Middlesex to wit


The Information of Ann Cothery< no role > of the Parish of Saint Stephen
in the City of London taken and made on Oath before the David without
Esqr. one of his Majesties Justices of the peace for the said County of
Middlesex this 14th. April 1773

This Informant saith that on the 11th. March last about 5 or 6 o Clock in the
same Evening she this Informant was Stopt on the Highway on Finchley
Common by a May on Horse back who passed this Informant in a Chaise
and Returned [..] back and Presented a Pistol and said, Stop, your Money upon which this Informants
Husband being with her gave him a Twenty Seven Shilling piece in Gold, the
Highwayman said this went do dont Riffle with me, upon which this
Informants Husband gave him a Guinea more, The Highwayman not
being then Satisfied said you have got more. This Informants Husband
being Willing to Convince him to the Contrary offered to get out of the Chaise
Meaning for the Highway man to search him if he choosed, but the Highway man
Insisted upon his Staying in the Chaise and Turn his Pockets Inside out
Which this Deponents Husband did when the Highway man asked him for his Watch
but finding he had got never a one Demanded his Bank Notes if he had any
when the HighwaymanDemanded this Informants Money, when this
Informant [..] gave her Husband 5 or 6s. which he gave the Highwayman
the Highwayman Desird [..] this Informant not to be Frightened
This Informants answer was Indeed I am, therefore Consider my Condition
and further saith not.
