Elizabeth the Wife of George Strupar of Butcher Row Eastsmithfield in the County
of Middlesex Pawn Broker and Jane the Wife of Richard Feel of Kings Street Tower
Hill in the said County Pawn broker severally make Oath and say that on or about
the Eighteenth Day of March last they these Deponents were bound by Recognizance
before John Sherwood< no role > Esquire one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace for the said
County to give Evidence at the then next Session of the Peace to be held at Hicks
Hall in and for the said County and also at the present Session of Goal Delivery
of Newgate holden for the said County against William Evans< no role > and Thomas
Ivers
< no role > for Felony on the Prosecution of Thomas Beavans on account of one
Sarah Younger< no role > 's having severally pawned with these Deponents some Shirts
and Neck Cloths which these Deponents produced before the said Justice and
these Deponents severally say that they fully intended to have appeared at the
said Sessions and have given the best Evidence they severally could in Respect
of the Charge against the said William Evans< no role > and Thomas Jurors and to have
produced the Goods so Pawned to them by the said Sarah Younger< no role > but these
Deponents severally say that the said Thomas Beavans or any Person on his
Behalf did not at any time after these Deponents were so bound by Recognizance
give any Notice whatever to these Deponents or leave any Notice whatever at the
Houses of these Deponents to their Knowledge or Belief for these Deponents to
attend at either of the said Sessions to give their Evidence against the said William
Evans
< no role > and Thomas Ivers< no role > and these Deponent say that for want of such Notice
they omitted attending at the said Sessions to give their Evidence and produce
the said Goods so pawned with them by the said Sarah Younger< no role > and these
Deponents say that such Omission to attend as aforesaid was not occasioned by
any View or Design of favour the said William Evans< no role > and Thomas Jurors or to
cause them to be acquitted of the Charge against them or to conceal the said
Goods or to prevent [..] the same from being delivered up to the said
Prosecutor or that the same was done out of any Contempt to this
Honourable Court and these Deponents severally say they are very sorry
that they have by Reason of such Omission to attend to give their Evidence
incurred the Displeasure of this Honourable Court and these Deponents
