for a Rape and Robbery

Thomas Meekins< no role > the Defendant in this Cause and James Meekin< no role > of
Brick lane in the Parish of Christ Church Spittalfields in the County
of Middlesex Weaver Severally make Oath and Say, And first the said
Thomas Meekins< no role > the Defendant, on his Oath Saith that he Caused
a Subpenea to be Issued from the Clerk of the Peace's Office for the
County of Middlesex in Order to be Served upon Nathaniel Loyd of
Rosemary lane in the parish of Saint Mary White< no role > Chapel in the County
of Middlesex aforesaid Cordwainer and George Sampson< no role > of Mountague
Street in the said parish and County Weaver in order for their Attendce.
this Sessions at this Deponents Tryal to Testifye and give Evidence
as to the Facts on this Deponents Tryal they being two Material
Witnesses on behalf of this Deponent, And this Deponent further
Saith that he Cause Dilligent Search to be made after his
aforesaid Witnesses at their respective Habitations and is Informed
and verily believes it to be true that the aforesaid Nathaniel Loyd
is gone to Portsmouth on particular Business and will not return
to London for the Space of Ten or Twelve days and that the said
George Sampson< no role > is gone to Norwick in the County of Norfolk and
is not Expected to come to London for the Space of Ten Days. And
Deponent Saith he cannot with any Safety to his Person takeabide
his Tryal this Session without the Benefit of the Testimony of
the said Nathaniel Loyd< no role > and George Sampson< no role > , And Saith that
he will take proper Care and verily believes he shall be able to
Produced the said Nathaniel Loyd< no role > and George Sampson< no role > at the
Tryal of this Deponent at the next Session. And this Deponent
James Meekins for himself Saith that he hath made Enquiry
after the above named Nathaniel Loyd< no role > and George Sampson< no role >
at their Severall Habitations in order to Serve them with the
Subpenea mentioned by the other Deponent and that he was Informed
and beleives it to be true that the said Nathaniel Loyd is gone
to Portsmouth in the County of Hants and will not return to
London for the Space of Ten or Twelve day and that the
said George Sampson< no role > is gone to Norwick in the County of
Norfolk and will not return to London for the Space
