The Examination and Confession of
John Lyon< no role > taken before me one [..] of his
Majesty's Justices of the peace in and for the
County of Middx The 4th. day of November
in the year of our Lord 1769

This Examinant saith that about a Fortnight ago he
went to Drury Lane play House, and that he sat down
in the said play house near a Man dressed in a Blue
Coat and white waistcoat, and that during the Acting
or performance of the play, he spoke to said Man
and discoursed with him, and this Examinant and
said man agreed to have a Battle of Corder and Drunk [..] together
in the said play house and accordingly did
And this Examinant saith that after the play or
performance ended this Examinant and said Man
went out of the play house together, and walked
to wards Chairing Cross, and went into a Publick house
or Tavern near thereto and there [..] Drank two Bottles
of Wine, and about one of the Clock in the Morning
this Examinant and said Man came out of the said
Public House or Tavern, and as soon as this Examinant
and said Man were [..] in the Street; he this Examinant
pulled out a Pistol and presented same towards said
Man and Demanded his Money, whereupon said Man
Delivered to this Examinant one Silver Watch (the makers
Name whereof was John Rodley< no role > or that Name is on the
name plate on the said Watch) and Three Guineas in Gold
and upon said Man complaining that this Examinant
had taken all the Money he had, this Examinant saith
that he took out of his Pocket half a Guinea & gave said
man, and then went away, and this Examinant saith
that a few Days after he gave said Watch too one William
Webb
< no role > who pawned or left the same with a pawn broken near saint
George's Church in the Borough of Southwork and further
saith not
