The King agt: John Carter< no role > on an Indictment
for Forgery on the Prosecution of
Benjamin Tomkins< no role >

John Carter< no role > now a Prisoner in his Majesty's Gaol of
Newgate maketh Oath and saith that Thomas Gaddes< no role >
Dealer and Chapman about the latter end of December
last went from London to Amsterdam in Holland as this
Deponent hath by Inquiry sometime last Week been
Informed which Information this Deponent verily believes
to be true And that the said Thomas Gaddes< no role > is Expected
to return form thence to London in a Week or Fortnight at
farthest as he is likewise Informed and believes And
this Deponent hopes at the next Session to have the
Benefit of his Testimony And this Deponent on his
Oath Positively saith that the said Thomas Gaddes< no role > is
a Material Witness for him this Deponent on the
Trial of the said Indictment and without whose
Testimony this Deponent cannot safely proceed to take
his Tryal on the said Indictment
