Who being on Oath says that on as about the 5th. of Octr. last
a Person came to the discount Office in the Bank where the
Cheques were kept and, standing at a distance, asked for some Cheques
for Sir
Joshua Varmeok< no role >
and Company or Words to that effect
Says that he then advanced and produced to this Informant a
Book which appeared to be, and which this Informant verily
believes was the Bank Book belonging to Sir Joshua Varnceck< no role >
and Company, there being his Name and the Word Company
as he believes upon it, says he hath since seen the Bank Book
belonging to Sir Joshua Varmeck< no role >
, which he believes to he the
Jolentical Book produced as aforesaid, says he delivered to the
Person producing said Book on the 5th. of October last thirty
Cheques the Number of which he immediately entered in a Book
kept for that pursuance says that when said Person went our
of said Office this Informant said There 6 a genteel Clerk
for you or words to that effect, says that the Persons
than present were Mr Richard Smith< no role >
and Mr. Edmund Lewin< no role >
says that he hath since seen a Draft for £4500
which has been offered for payment and paid at the Bank
purporting to be the Draft of Sir Joshua Varmeck and Company
and which Draft as he has been informed and verily
believes is false Forged and Counter failed, and farther
says that said Draft is wrote upon one of those Identical
thirty Chequeswhich he the Informantdelivered and
entered on the 5th. of Octr. aforesaid says that he has since seen
a Person amongst a Number of others at the Antigalicow
Coffee house
whom he then immediately thought to be the
Person, and whom he Now verily believes was the Person who
recd. the thirty Cheques from him as aforesaid, and farther says
that he was afterwards informed by Mr. Hodgskin who was in
the said Coffee house
with this Informant that he was one of the
Clerks
belonging to Sir Joshua Varmeck aforesaid and that he
since finds his Name to be Vester burgh, says that he hath since
seen
