The Information of William Taplin< no role >
of Piccadilly White Smith taken before
me this 17th. day of Decr. 1764

Who being upon Oath says that on Saturday night last about [..] seven
o'Clock in his way to Samuel Baken< no role > the Sign of the black Dogg
near Chelsea he was Attacth at a place called Chelsea Common
by a Person now present who calls himself Richard Shelmerdine< no role >
and who keeps an Alehouse known by the Sign of the Cow and Calfes
near Chelsea Common aforesaid who feloniously assaulted him
on the aforesaid Common being near the Kings Highway but
him in fear and feloniously took from his Person a Guinea
one Doller a Crown piece, his Silver watch made by Schofield
and three Keys, says as soon as he was so Robbed he asked
said Shelmood in his way to the House of the aforesd. Samuel
Baker
< no role > who did point the way he shou'd go thither but that
this Informt. then received a violent blow which Knockt him
down says he does not know whether sd. Shelmerdine was the
Person that knockt him down, but is very sure he is
the Person who assaulted and Robbed him as aforesaid
says that as soon as he recovered from the blow he returned
to the House of said shelmerdine where he found him
sitting and that he then saw the servant of said Shelmerdine
vizt. Robt. Thompson< no role > now prevent hang up by the [..] side of the
door the Identical Silver Watch of which he had just before
been Robbed as aforesaid, and farther says that he knew
said Shelmerdine again as soon as he saw him sitting
in his own house as aforesaid but did not then charge him
with the Robbery for fear of being Murdered
