The free and Voluntary Confession and
Examination of John Boal of the hamlet
of Poplar and Blackwall in the Parish of
Stepney in the County of Midd'x Carpenter
taken before me one of his Majestys Justices
of the Peace for the said County this 17th.
day of March 1758 .

This Examinant John Boal, voluntarily confesseth and
sayth that he has several times feloniously Stole from out
of the Stowhouse of Messrs. John and Robert Batson< no role > of the
hamlet of Poplar and Blackwall in the Parish of Stepney in
the County of Midd'x Shipbuilders divers quantitys of Iron
consisting of Bolts [..] the Property of Messrs. John
and Robert Batson< no role > and that he sold the same to one
Barber, a Smith, who lives in the Back Lane in the Parish of Saint
George Midd'x, always at the rate of One Penny a Pound, the
it was greatly M [..] of the real Price of that Commodity. and that
he the said Barber bought and received the same, wall
Knowing the same to be feloniously, stolen
