Depositions of Witnesses taken at London that
is to say as the Parish of Saint Botolph without
Aldersgate in the Ward of Aldersgate without
in London aforesaid this 29th day July 1799
on view of the Body of John Bucknell< no role > now
here lying Dead

John Metcalf< no role > of No.2 little Montague Court little Britain Glazier
maketh Oath that between me and two on Saturday afternoon last
Department goin home to the said House understood the deced who
lodged in a three pair of Stairs Room of had been missing from Thursday
Night last Dept went up to the deceds Room Door and found it
fastened inside That soon after a Blacksmith came and forced the
Door open Dept. and the deceds Down went into the Room and
found the deced hanging by a Cord fastened to a Hook against
the side of the wall that he was quite dead and appeared to have
hanged some time Dept cut him down that the deced was a
married Man but his Wife was out marring That the deced
used frequently to come home intoxicated

aforesaid Poulterer maketh Oath that she is Daughter of the deced
That for some years had the deced has given himself up to
drinking and getting intoxicated and when sober Deponent
and her Mother and family has considered him to be deranged
and out of his Mind

William Bewells< no role > a Lodger at No.2 Montague Court aforesaid
Shoemaker maketh Oath that he hath known the deced about
seven years That the deced was very much in the habit of
getting intoxicated That about four years ago Dept being was in the
Room with the deced and his wife the deced attempted to cut
his own throat with a knife he had in his hand but Dept.
prevented him and wanted the knife from him that he was then
very much intoxicated Deponent says that when the deced
has got sober after being drunk he has known him to lock himself
upon in a salky humour for two or three Days together dining
which time he would speak to no one and Dept believes he used
as there times to refrain from either at eating or drinking
