An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at London (that is to say) at the parish of Saint
Bartholomew the less in the ward of Farringdon without in London aforesaid on the second day of October in the thirty eighth year of the
reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third King of Great Britain and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the
King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark on view of the body of Samuel Jennings< no role > now here lying dead by the oath of James Stock< no role > ,
Charles Gale< no role > Thomas Weightman< no role > , William Davies< no role > , George Noone< no role > , Robert Read< no role > , Robert McDowell, Francis Trumar Lewis Cole< no role > , Michael
Barnett, Richard Lewen, William Burnstead< no role > , Thomas Broad< no role > , Charles Haskins< no role > , John Summons, Thomas Blake< no role > , and John Bodingham< no role >
good and lawful men of the City of London aforesaid who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged to inquire for our said
Lord the King when how and in what manner the said Samuel Jennings< no role > came to his death say upon their oath that the
said Samuel Jennings< no role > on the twenty ninth day of August in the year aforesaid being in a certain street called Old street situate in
the parish of Saint Luke in the County of Middlesex and a certain person to the Jurors aforesaid unknown being driving a certain
dray drawn by two horses along the said street It so happened that the horses in the said dray were affrighted and accidentally casually
and by misfortune started to and against the said Samuel Jennings< no role > and the off wheel of the said dray did thereby then and there violently
strike and force and press the said Samuel Jennings< no role > unto and against a certain post in the said street by means
where of the said Samuel Jennings< no role > did then and there accidentally casually and by misfortune receive divers mortal
bruises in and upon his back sides breasts belly and Stomach of which said Mortal bruises he the said Samuel
Jennings from the said twenty ninth day of August in the year aforesaid until the first day of October in the same year
as well at the said parish of Saint Luke in the County of Middlesex at also at the parish of Saint Bartholomew the less aforesaid
in the said Ward of Farringdon without in London aforesaid did languish and languishing did live and on the same day and
year last aforesaid at London aforesaid in the parish and Ward aforesaid the said Samuel Jennings< no role > of the said Mortal bruises
did die-And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid do say that the said Samuel Jennings< no role > in manner and by
the means aforesaid accidentally Casually and by misfortune came to his death and not otherwise In Witness whereof as
well the said Coroner as the said Jurors have to this Inquisition set their hands and seals the day year and place
first abovewritten
