Southwark Deposition of Witnesses taken at the Parish
of Saint Saviour within the Borough of
Southwark in the County of Surrey this 27th
day of September 1798 on view of the body of
Mary Purser< no role > now here lying Dead

high Street Haberdasher & Hosier makeththatOath that
the deced he Mistresshath been illabout three Weeks
since miscarried since which time she has been very
ill and kept her Bed mostly-That about twelve oClock
on Wednesday Nightin the Night of Tuesday last Dept. went to the Room the deced
slept in a two pair of Stairs front Room being desired tosleep
attend the deced there during the Night-that [..] depts
lay down and went to sleep-That about one Dept. got up
& gave the deced a Draught which had been sent by the
Surgeon for her to take and then lay down again-That
between four & five the deced called Dept. upon Dept. going
to her she asked for some Scissars to cut the Skin which
had been raised by a Blister on her Thigh-Dept. advised
her not tomiddle withcut the Blister then but have a frest
Plaister on it Dept. placed a frest Plaister on the part
the Blister had been on-Dept. asked the deced if she would
have any refreshment the decedvery much [..] made scare any answer
and seemed quite indifferent-Dept. warmed some Jellie
& gave it the deced which she [..] drank and then told
Dept. to put the Candle out & lay down which Dept. did
Dept. had not layed long when she was awakened by a noise
in the Room Dept.get uplistened and heard a Noise in
the Room if as if some person was Sick Dept. thinkingthe
deced was Sick got up and went to her with a Ward
hand Bason that there was no Light in the Room Dept fell the
herdeced she appeared to be sitting up in the Bed leaning upon her
Elbow that something seemed to come from he with great force
that thedaydeced sayed nothing Dept. went [..] and alarmed
her Master who with Dept. and the Nurse returned to
the deced with a Light-that she was all over Blood which
appeared to come from her Neck-that a Surgeon having been
sent
