An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at London that is to say
at the Parish of Saint Mary Staining in the Ward of Aldersgate within in London aforesaid
on the twenty seventh day of November in the thirty fifth year of the reign of our Sovereign
Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King
Defender of the faith and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the
King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark on view of the body of James Smith< no role > now
here lying dead by the oath of Thomas Swaine< no role > George Ray Joseph Rice< no role > Erington Paxton Richard
Payne Robert Grigson< no role > Peter Usher< no role > Angus Cameron< no role > Loader Bourn< no role > William Savory< no role > Michael

Densdale good and lawful men of the City of London aforesaid who being now here duly chosen sworn
and charged to inquire for our said Lord the King when how and in what manner the said
James Smith< no role > came to his death say upon their oath that the said James Smith< no role > on the seventeenth
day of November in the year aforesaid being much intoxicated with liquor accidentally casually and
by misfortune fell down from the Landing place of a certain two pair of stairs room in the
dwelling house of Francis Spenser Hobbs situate in the Parish and Ward aforesaid in London
aforesaid to and against the landing place of the one pair of stairs room of and belonging to the
said dwelling house by means whereof the said James Smith< no role > did then and there receive one
mortal concussion on the brain of him the said James Smith< no role > of which said mortal contussion he
the said James Smith< no role > from the said seventeenth day of November in the year aforesaid
until the twenty seventh day of the same month of November in the same year did languish
and languishing did live on which said twenty seventh day of November in the year aforesaid the
said James Smith< no role > at the Parish and Ward aforesaid in London aforesaid of the said mortal concussion
did die And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid do say that the said James Smith< no role >
in manner and by the means aforsaid accidentally casually and by misfortune came to his
death and not otherwise In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said Thomas
Swain the foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his fellows in their
presence have to this Inquisition set their hands and seals the day Year and place first
above written.
