LondonDeposition of a Witness taken at London that
is to say, at the Parish of Saint Mary Stayning
in the Ward of Aldersgate within in London
aforesaid this 28th. day of November 1794
on James Smith< no role > now here lying Dead

Sarah Clark< no role > Servant to Hobbs of No.12 Noble Street London
Apothecary maketh Oath that the deced James Smith< no role > has rented
two Rooms up two pair of Stairs in Mr. Hobbs house about five
Months-that abut four OClock in the afternoon of last
Monday Week the deced came Home [..] very much
intoxicated with Liquor that he went up a few Stairs and
then fell-upon which [..] Dept. assisted the deced in going
up Stairs Dept. assisted him to the two pair of Stairs and
left him at his Room Door-in a little time after Dept. being
in her Mistress Dining Room one pair of Stair heard something
fall Dept. look out of the Room draw the deced lying with his
head downards againt the dining Room Door-That his Ear
bled. Dept. untied the deced Neck Handkerchief Dept. asked
the deced if he was hurst he sayed no-that the deced lay there
until Mr. Smith the Wife [..] of the deced came Home
which was about ½ an Hour after when Mr. Smith and her Daughter
& Dept. led the deced upto his Room that he was put to Bed
when Dept. left him in care of his Wife and Daughter
that the deced continued ill from that time until
Wednesday Morng: last when Redeparted this Life
