An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at the Parish of Christ
Church in the Ward of Faringdon within in London aforesaid on the third day of May in the thirty
Second year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain
France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth Before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman
Coroner of our said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark on view
of the Body of William Pearson< no role > now here lying dead by the Oath of John Farguson< no role > , John Swain< no role > ,
Thomas Hatton< no role > , George Hatton< no role > , Samuel Rutter< no role > , John Needham< no role > , Thomas Hutchins< no role > , Thomas Beale< no role > ,
John Windleborough< no role > , James Hazlewood, Richard Abbiss< no role > , Samuel Hall< no role > , Timothy Keck< no role > with,
and William Warren< no role > , goof and lawful men of the Parish and Ward aforesaid who being now
here duly chosen Sworn and Charged to inquire for our said Lord the King when how and in
what manner the said William Pearson< no role > come to his death say upon their Oath that on the first day
of may in the year aforesaid a certain person unknown being gently driving a certain Mail Coach
drawn by two Horses along and through a certain Public Street called newgate Streets situate in the
Parish and ward aforesaid and a certain other mail Coach being lied and fastened to the
hinder part of the said first mentioned mail Coach and the said William Pearson< no role > being in the
said public Street It so happened that the near kind Wheel of the said last mentioned mail Coach
accidentally casually and by misfortune did then and there go upon and Pass over the Breast of him the said
William Pearson< no role > by means whereof he the said William Pearson< no role > did then and there receive divers Mortal Breast in and upon his said Breast
and other parts of his Body of which said mortal Bruises the said William Pearson< no role > from the said first day of
may in the Year aforesaid until the Second day of the same Month of May in the same Year as well at the
Parish last aforesaid as also at the Parish of Saint Sepulchre in the ward of Farringdon without in London
London aforesaid did languish and languishing did live on which said second day of May in the year
aforesaid at the Parish and Ward last aforesaid the said William Pearson< no role > of the said Moral Bruises did die
And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said William Pearson< no role > in manner and by
the means aforesaid Casually and by misfortune was accidentally killed and that the near kind
wheel of the last mentioned Mail Coach was moving to the death of the said William Pearson< no role > and is of the value of
five Shillings and the Property and in the Possession of a certain person or persons unknown In Witness
whereof as well the said Coroner as the said John Farguson< no role > the Foreman of the said Jurors on
behalf of himself and the rest of his fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition set their hands
and Seals the day Year and place first above Written
