An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at London that is to say
at the parish of Saint George Botolph Lane in the ward of Billingsgate in London aforesaid on the
thirty first day of July in the thirty second year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord< no role > George the third by the
Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King defender of the faith and so forth
Before Thames Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the King for the City of London and
Borough of Southwark on view of the body of a man unknown now here lying dead by
the Oath of Thomas Goodwin< no role > , Stephen Adams< no role > , Edward Kemp< no role > , Robert Orr< no role > , James Runnington< no role >
William Taylor< no role > , Oliver Skinner< no role > Richard Waddup< no role > , John Price< no role > , John Coleman< no role > , Richard
Rake, Thomas Phipps< no role > and John Bates< no role > good and lawful men of the City of London aforesaid
who being now here duly chosen Sworn and charged to Inquire for our said Lord the King
when how and in what manner the said Man unknown came to his death say upon
their Oath that the said Man unknown on the twenty ninth day of July in the
Year aforesaid Accidentally casually and by misfortune fell into the River Thames and
in and with the Waters of the said River was then and [..] suffocated and drowned
Of which said suffocation and drowning the said Man unknown did then and there die
And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said Man
unknown in manner and by the means aforesaid casually and by misfortune
was accidentally Drowned In Witness whereof as well the the said Coroner as the
said Thomas Goodwin< no role > the Foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of himself and
the rest of his Fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition set their hands
and Seals the day Year and place first above written.
