An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at the Parish of Saint
Sepulchre in the Ward of Farringdon without in London aforesaid on the twenty fifth day of July in the
Thirty Second year of the Reign four Sovereign Lord< no role > George the third by the Grace of God of Great
Britain France< no role > and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and soforth before Thomas Shelton< no role >
Gentlemen Coroner of our said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough of Southwark on
view of the Body of George Chapman< no role > now here lying dead by the Oath of Ralph Monk William
Peter Henry Madgin< no role > John Dawson< no role > James Atkinson< no role > William Morss Thomas Ordish William
Wickridge Henry Weatherhead John Blackett< no role > Joseph Hunt< no role > John Castle< no role > and John Butcher< no role >
[..] and lawfulmen of the Parish and Ward aforesaid who being nowhere duly Chosen Sworn
and Charged to inquire for our said Lord the King when how and in what manner the said George
Chapman came to his death say upon their Oath that a certain person whose Name is unknown being
[..] a Certain Cart drawn by two Horses along and through a certain Public Strat and Kings
[..] Highway called Water Lane Fleet Street in the City of London and the said George Chapman< no role >
then and there being in the said Street It so happened that the said Accidentally casually and by Misfortune
fell to the Ground there and next to the said Cart while the same was passing on as aforesaid by means
whereof near Wheel of the said Cart did then and there accidentally casually and by misfortune go
upon and Pass over the right Leg of him the said George Chapman< no role > by means whereof he the said George
Chapman did then and there receive divers Mortal Wounds and [..] in and upon his said
Right Leg of which said mortal Wounds and bruises he the said George Chapman< no role > did die And so the
Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say that the said George Chapman< no role > in manner and by the
means aforesaid Casually and by misfortune was accidentally Killed and that the said
near Wheel of the said Cart was moving to the death of the said George Chapman< no role > and is of the
value of one Shilling and the property and in the possession of William Stapleton< no role > of White Friars
in the said City of London In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as the said Ralph Monk< no role >
The Foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest of his Fellows in their presence
have to this Inquisition set their Hands and Seals the Day Year and place first above Written
