An Inquisition indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the Kingas the Parish
of Saint Thomas within the Borough of Southwark in the County of Surrey on the fifteenth day of September in the twenty
eighth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland king
Defender of the Faith Etc before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner of our said Lord the King for the City of London and Borough
of Southwarks on view of the Body of George Gray< no role > now here lying dead by the oath of John Mitchell< no role > William Barber< no role > John Joshua Cubbage< no role >
Thomas Wroe< no role > William Bridger< no role > Francis Willmott< no role > Jeremiah Holliday< no role > , Nathaniel Harris< no role > , Samuel Cocham, James Maul< no role >
Thomas Asquith, John Taylor< no role > , Stephen Goodwin< no role > , John Perguson< no role > and Robert Marlin good and lawful Men of the Borough
of Southwark aforesaid in the County aforesaid who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged to inquire for our said Lord
the King when how and in what manner the said George Gray< no role > came to his death say upon their oath that the said George Gray< no role >
not being of sound memory and understanding but lunatic and distracted on the seventh day of September in the twenty eighth
year aforesaid at the Precinct of Saint Catherine in the County of Middlesex with a certain Roger made of Iron and Steel of the value of one Penny which he
the said George Gray< no role > in his right hand these and there had and held the Neck and Throat of him the said George Gray< no role > then
and therewith the Roger aforesaid did strike slabandcut and penetrate Giving to himself then and there by such striking
slabbing cutting and penetrating with the Roger aforesaid one moral Wound in and upon the Neck and Throat of him the said
George Gray< no role > of the length of six Inches and of the depth of three inches Of which said mortal Wound he the said George Gray< no role > from
the said seventh day of September in the twenty eighth year aforesaid until the thirteenth day of the said Month of September in the same
year as well as the said Precinet of Saint Catherine in the said County of Middlesex as also as the said Parish of Saint Thomaswithin the
Borough aforesaid in the County aforesaid did languish and languishing did live On which said thirteenth day of September in theYear
aforesaid at the Parish aforesaid within the Borough aforesaid in the County aforesaid the said George Gray< no role > of the said mortalwound did die
And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their oath aforesaid do say that she said George Gray< no role > not being of sound mind memory and understanding
but lunatic and distracted in manner and by the means aforesaid did kill himself In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner as
she said John Mitchell< no role > the foreman of the said Jurors an behalf of himself and the rest of his factors in their presence have to this
inquisition set their hands and seals the day year and place first abovewritten.
