At this Vestry a Rate or Assessment for the relief
and Employment of the Poor for thirteen Weeks from the
Tenth day of October last was made
Mr Churchwarden Tucker Informed this Vestry
That some short time ago he had attended the present Lord
Mayor at his Mansion House
on a Summons to shew
Cause why he refused to relieve one Menhaim Atias< no role >
a Forreign Jew
who declared himself a Native of
Leghorn
and that he near two years ago came with his
Family (a wife & five Children) from Gibraltar
to England
& had for some time past with his said wife and Children lodged
in this ParishThat he the said Mr. Tucker had
thereupon shewed Cause to his Lordship for such Refusal, That
he had been advised & believed that the said Menahim Atias< no role >
being a Foreigner & Alien according to the Opinion of the late
