Sarah Smith< no role > the widow of Thomas Smith< no role > deced
& Elizabeth Smith< no role > her Daughter Severally make oath & first the
Said Sarah Smith< no role > the Mother for herself Saith that her Said late
husband has informed her & Which she believes to be true that he
was hired & lived as a hired Servant by the year at Certain Wages with
one Mrs Cook in Hummerton in the Parish of Saint John Hackney
in the Sd County & Continued in such Service for many Years & by
means theerof gained a legal Settlement there That he did not
afterwards live elsewhere as a hired Servant for a year or Rent a house
of the yearly Rent or Value of Ten Pounds or serve any Parish office
or pay any Poors Rates or Kings Taxes or do any Act to gain a
Subsequent Settlement That the Said other Deponent Sarah Smith< no role > is
the Daughter & lawful Issue of this Depont by her Said late husband
& has not done any Act to this Deponents knowledge or belief to
gain a Settlement for herself And the Said Deponent Sarah Smith< no role >
the Daughter for herself Saith that She was never bound an
Apprentice nor ever lived as a hired Servant for a year nor was
ever married nor ever did any Act to gain a Settlement in her
own right That about three years ago She this Deponent was
delivered of a Female Child Since baptised & registered by the
name of Elizabeth Cormick< no role > in Cock Alley in the Parish of St.
Botolph without Aldgate in the Said County Which Child is illegitimate
& Bastard by reason that She this Deponent was never married
And that one John Cormick< no role > of the Said Parish of St Botolph
without Aldgate Porter is the Father of the Said Child.
