Elizabeth Tilfer< no role > the Widow of John
Tilfer
< no role > deceased maketh Oath that she was
Married to her said late Husband at
St. Johns Church at Dundee in Scotland
about Twenty Seven years ago that her said
Husband was born in Scotland and Served
his Apprenticeship to a Shipwright there
as he has informed her, and never did any
Act to her knowledge or belief to gain a
Settlement in England, that she this Deponent
[..] about Three years before her said
Marriage and when she was a Singlewoman
was hired as a Servant by the year to
a Mr. Burgess of Richmond under the Hill
in the County of Surrey Gentleman at the
Yearly Wages of Six Guineas & continued
in his Service under such hiring upwards
of Two years that her said Husband died
about Seventeen years ago in St. Kitts
Hospital , and that at the time of his Death
she lived as a hired Servant by the Year
with Sr . Thos. Mills< no role > of the Adelphi in the
Parish of St. Mary le Strand at the yearly Wages
of Twenty Guineas, that she lived in his
Service about Four years, But that she
had at that time Two Children living the
lawful issue by her said late Husband, And
further saith that being Poor & unable to
provide for herself she has been obliged to
apply to the Overseers of the Poor of the Parish
of St. Botolph without Aldgate Middx for Relief &
has been relieved by them accordingly
