Upon Reading a Report from the House Committee bearing
date the 15th. day of October Instant under the Hands of Nathl. Thomas< no role > Esqr .

''In Pursuance of an Order of Court bearing date the first day of
October Instant whereby it was referred to this Committee to consider what
are or ought to be the duly Salary and Perquisites of the Porter of
Bridewell Hospital Wc. have proceeded to Inquire into the Several malter
above referred to us and do find that the following Rules and Orders
have been made and are now Subsisting relating to his duty and Office
which we are of Opinion are necessary to be confirmed and established for
the good Goverment of the said Hospital (that is to say)

That at the bottom of the last folio of each of the Books which
have been Provided by the Steward one of which is to be delivered to the
Porter wherein he is to keep a Register of the Prisoners there to be wrote
in words at length the Number of the folios in the whole and that the
same be signed by the Porter as well as the Steward.

That when he receives any Prisoners he do immediatly indorse on
the back of the Warrant the day and hour when such Prisoner was
received if not before so Indorsed by some other Servant of the Hospital
and Subscribe his Name Close to such Indorsement.

That he do number the Warrants on the front in numerical Order
as they come in

That he do enter in his Book the Number of the Warrant the Names
of the Prisoner committed by whom when on whose Oath and for what
cause and for all warrants of Commitment which shall come in from
eight of the Clock in the Morning until four of the Clock in the afternoon
he having entered them in his Book do carry them by Six of the Clock
the same day or sooner if her can to the Steward to be entered in like
manner by him in his Book (who is to return them by ten of the Clock
the next Morning) and so for all Warrants of Commitment which shall
come in from four of the Clock in the afternoon until eight of the Clock
the next Morning being entered in like manner by him be carried to
the Steward by ten of the Clock to be entered in like manner by him in
his Book (who is to return them by four of the Clock in the afternoon)
and that he do carefully file the said Warrants in Order according to
their Numbers
