Upon Reading a Report from the House Committee under the Hands
of William Kinleside< no role > Esq . treasurer , Robt Pott< no role > Esq. Henry Cranke< no role > Esq . Mr
Richd. Crowther< no role > , Samuel Seawell< no role > Esq . Mr Jonathan Granger< no role > and Henry
Kynaston Southouse

"At a Committee Thursday 7th. Novr 1771This Committee finding
"two Vacancies of Artsmasters in this Hospital by the Death of John Himus< no role >
and the Resignation of William Grinsell< no role > Caused an Advertisement to be
Published several Times in the Daily Advertiser Public Advertiser and
Gazetteer from the 19th. day of October last to the 3d. day of November Instances
both days Inclusive as follow Vizt. Bridewell Hospital Two
Appartmts. of the Artsmasters in this Hospital being now Vacant any Engine
weaver and Broad weaver of good Character who are inclineable to fill up
the Places may give in their Names at the Clerks Office (where they will
receive further Information) any Morning before the 3d. day of November
next Soon after which there will be an Election" And accordingly Three
weaver s left their Names, and Notice being given to them that the Committee
would meet this day to consider of the several Applications that had
been made, the following Persons attended and brought Samples of their
Work Vizt

They all Prosessed themselves to be of the Church of England as by Law Established
And the Committee upon the best Inquiry they could make have no reason to
Object to the Character of either of them or their Skill in their Trade And the
Committee finding that no Engine weaver had applied in Consequence of the
above Advertisement and being Informed that that Branch of the
Manufactory is upon the Decline are of Opinion that it will be more for the
Benefit of the Charity to Elect Two Broad weavers All which is Submitted
to the Judgment of the Court And Ordered to be Reported at the next Court

This Court proceeded to an Election of Two Artsmasters and the several
Humble Petitions of Robt. Lamare< no role > , John Mills< no role > , and John Sanders< no role > being
severally Read and each Setting forth He is willing to take such a Number of
Apprentices as the Court shall Order And to keep his Appartment in Repair
with Flooring Glaizing Plaistering and Whiting at his own Expence And to
Comply with all Orders of the Court and Committee made and to be made in
Relation to Artsmasters And each Paying to be Admitted Artsmasters , The
Govrs. gave their Ballots which being Cast up the Numbers appeared to be for
each as follows Vizt

Whereupon the Rt. Worshipful Sir Richd Glyn< no role > Bart . Aldr and President
declared the said Robt Lemare< no role > and John Sanders< no role > duly Elected And it is
Ordered that the said Robt Lemare< no role > and John Sanders< no role > (each producing a Copy of
his Freedom of this City & delivering a Certificates of his last legal Settlemt. to the Clerk)
be Admitted an Artsmaster of this Hospital until the next Elections Day And to
have such Appartments as the Committee of this House shall think proper
Upon giving such Security as has been usually done in the like Case And that this
Journeymen which they shall Employ in their Trades shall be such as have
Served their Apprentiship in this Hospital
