Continued Thursday 1st August 1771

Power to bear the Barthen that will be imposed on them by the said Act of
they were to Apply to have the said Lane paved in pursuance of the above
Clause without the aid and Assistance of Persons who find it Commodions
or Useful to have the said Lane Paved

Prepared to the House

That the Petitioner have Entred into a Subscription towards the
Expence of New Paving the said Lane which Subscription Amounts to
£500 and upwards and they are applying to several other Persons who
reside in Wapping and do not Rent any part of the said Hospital Estate
and have received Subscriptions from them and are in daily Expectations
of others Contributing thereto But as the Peitioners are Informed and
believe that the said Lane cannot be thorough by Paved & Repaired for
less than £1300-The Petitioners Prayed the Govrs to Contribute
such Sum of Money towards New Paving the said Lane as to them should
Seem Meet This Court having duly Weighed the said Petition Doth
refer it to the House Committee to Consider the Prayer of the said Petition
and Report their Opinion thereon to the Court

At this Court Mr Thomas Challoner< no role > and Mr Willm Willby Junr
were Confirmed Chapel Wardens of this Hospital and the Precinct thereof
from Easter 1771 to Easter 1772

Lapthorne Mary
Gratuity of 20 Guas
Ordered her


It is Ordered that Mrs. Mary Lapthorne< no role > the Matron of this Hospital
have a Gratuity of 20 Guineas on Accot. of her Age,Infirmities and Ill
State of Health and that the Clerk do pay the same and be allowed it
in his next Account

Waldron John to be
paid £10 Mr Locks Gift


Edwd. Umfreville< no role > Esqr and Charles Vere< no role > Esqr . two of the Govrs . Reported that
in pursuance of an Order of Court of the 13th. day of June last they had made
an Inquiry and found that John Waldron< no role > who Served his Apprentiship to
James Smith< no role > and William Wilby< no role > Junr. is set up for himself in his Trade and
has the Character of a diligent and Sober man It is Ordered that the
Steward do pay the said John Waldron< no role > Ten Pounds out of Mr Locks Gift
to be allowed him in his next Account

Gillett George to be paid
£10 Mr Locks Gift


John Spencer Colepeper< no role > Esq . & Mr. Robt. Coker< no role > two of the Govrs . Reported that
in pursuance of an Order of Court of the 13th. day of June last they had made
an Inquiry & found that George Gillett< no role > who served his Apprentiship to Willm.

< no role > is set up for himself in his Trade and has the Character of a diligent
and Sober Man It is Ordered that the Steward do pay the said George
Gillett

Account

Grimes Jeffrey to be paid
£10 Mr. Locks Gift


Henry Cranke< no role > Esq & Mr Deputy Rogers two of the Govrs Reported that in
pursuance of an Order of Court of the 13th. day of June last they had made
an Inquiry and found that Jeffry Grimes< no role > who served his Apprentiship to
Willm. Grinsell< no role > is set up for himself in his Trade and has the Character
of a diligent and Sober Man It is Ordered that the Steward do pay
the said Jeffry Grimes Ten Pounds out of Mr Locks Gift to be allowed
him in his next Account
