Continued Wednesday 27th. July 1768

Committee held in for the said Hospital on Thursday the 3rd of March
last were pleased to Order that the Clerk of these Hospitals should
look into the Acts of Parliament lately made for Embanking the River Etc
and Report to the Committee in what Manner the same Affect - the
Estate and Interest of this Hospital and the Tenants or Lessees thereof
with all Facts and Circumstance Materially Relating thereto-

& Report


And Whereas at another Committee held in and for the said Hospital
on Thursday the 5th. Day of May last Upon Reading the said Order
of the Worshipful Committee of Common Council and the Proposal
thereunto Annexed and the Plan therein mentioned It was Ordered
that the same should be referred to the Surveyor of this Hospital
and that the same should report to the Committee of the this Hospital his
Opinion thereon with all Facts and Circumstances Materially relating
thereto fully and at large.

And Whereas John Woodhouse< no role > Esquire Clerk of these Hospitals
made his Report in Writing bearing Date the 28th. Day of June 1738
to the following Effect.

To the Right Worshipful the President the Worshipful the
treasurer & governors of the Committee of Bridewell Hospital

Clerks Report


In Pursuance of an Order of Committe held at Bridewell
Hospital on Thursday the 3d. Day of March last Whereby I am-
Directed to look into the Acts of Parliament lately made for Embanking
the River Etc and to Report to the Committee in what Manner the
same Affects the Interest of this Hospital the Tenants or Lessees-
thereof with all Facts and Circumstances materially relating thereto
I humbly Certify

That I find by the Act of 29th. Geo. 2. Intitled [An Act for
Building a Bridge Cross the River Thames from Black fryers
in the City of London to the opposite side in the County of Surry]

It was Enacted (among various other Clauses and Powers)
That the Mayor Aldermen and Commons of the said City in Common
Council assembled should have power to design Direct Order and
Build the said Bridge and to maintain the same and appoint a
Committee from time to Manage and Transact such Matters as they
might find necessary which Committee should have such Powers as
should from time to time be delegated to them by the Mayor-
Aldermen and Commons in Common Councel assembled or such
General Powers as by the Act were given to them And
That the Mayor Aldermen and Commons in Common Council
Assembled were Authorized to Design Assign and lay out in what
Manner the said Bridge should be Build and the Ways Streets
and Passages to and from the same made widened Inlarged or
Improved and to do all Matters and Things for Carrying on
and Effecting the Purposes aforesaid
