Continued Thursday 20th. June 1765

That your Petitioners Term in the said Premises Expires at Lady Day
1772 and upon your Petition proposing to lay out a Considerable Sum of Money in the
Improvement of the said Premises if your Worships will Grand him a further Term
there in

Your Petitioner therefore Humbly prays your Worships will grant him
an Additional Term of seven Years to Commences at the Expiration of his present
Lease upon the same Terms and Conditions he now holds the same

It is Ordered that the said Petiton be referred to the Committee of this
House That they do Consider the same and Report their Opinion there on to this Court

Upon reading the Humble Petition of Edward Lewis< no role > of the City of London Esqr .
in the Words and figures following Vizt. That your Worships having Agreed to
Demise to Robert Hardcastle< no role > a Piece of Ground in Old Bethlem No. 7 and 8 for the Term
of 62 Years from Lady day 1751 And the said Robert Hard castle having afterwards
Agreed to Assign part thereof to Godfrey Thornton< no role > Esqr . and other part there of to Samuel
Handley
< no role > Esqr . your Worships were Pleased on the Petition of Godfrey Thornton and
Samuel Handley< no role > to Order that Leases should be made to them respectively and that
in Consideration of 20 Guineas by them Paid That the Term Should be made To
Hold from Lady Day 1752 for 72 Years.

That the said Godfrey Thornton afterwards Dying & leaving Petitioner one of his
Executors It was at a Court held at the said Hospitals of Bridewell on the 23rd July
1756 Ordered that the said Lease which was to be made to him should be Granted to
your Petitioner and on the 25th. September following a Lease was Executed where by the
aforesaid Piece of Ground was Domised to Your Petitioner at the Rent of £7..10 and by
mistake made To hold from Lady Day 1756 for 67 Years Whereas it ought to have been
from Lady Day 1753 for 72 Years Whereby your Petitioners Term in the said Premises is
made to Expire one Year sooner than was Ordered by Your Worships aforesaid Order

That Your Petitioner has Agreed to part with his Interest in the said Premises
to Charles Crocket< no role > of the City of London Merchant

Your Petitioner therefore humbly Prays your Worships that he may be at Liberty to
Surrender the aforesaid Lease and that thereupon a New Lease may be made and Granted
to the said Charles Crocket< no role > of the said Premises To Hold from Lady Day 1752 for the
said Term of 72 Years after the same Terms and Conditions as your Petitioner now Holds
the sameAnd your Petitioner shall were Pray Etc

It is Ordered that the said Petition be referred to the Committee of this Horse
that They do Consider the same and Report their Opinion thereon to this Court

That there being a Vacancy of a Steward for Bethlem Hospital by the
Death of Mr. Thomas Hodges< no role > and Praying that the Court would be Pleased to Elect him
Steward of the said Hospital until the next Election Day and that his
shall from Midsummer next have Receive and Enjoy the Salary and Profits thereto belonging
