Upon Reading a Report from the Comee of this House dated 2d. of October 1754 under
the hands of Robert Alsop< no role > Esq. Aldn. Trear Mr. John Hankin< no role > Mr. Calvert
Benn
< no role > , Mr. Edward Barwick< no role > , Mr. Thomas Lennard< no role > & Richd Roman< no role > Esqr
as followsMr. Thomas Holden< no role > the Surveyor of the Works & Workmen
of these Hospitals laid before this Comittee the Accounts hereto Annex't
of the Several Plans & Drawings which he made by Orders of the Court &
Comittee part whereof Particularly the Plans for a Treasurers house
were in Pursuance of an Order of Court before He was Established
Surveyor or had any SalaryAnd also of the Admeasurement
of Several Works done for these Hospitals in the year to Xmas 1753 which is
the Artificers bills were Charged by Days-work and without mentioning
where the Materials were Usedwhich Bills be Caused to be Alter'd
and the Works to be Distinguished whereby Great Deductions were made
from the Bills first delivered to the Stewards And this Committee
having Considered the same are of Opinion that the Services
abovementioned are not the Usual Business of a Surveyor And that
it wou'd be reasonable to Allow Mr. Holden for his sd. Extra Services
in respect of Bridewell Hospital £20And of Bethlem Hospital £10
All which is Nevertheless Submitted to the Judgment of the
CourtThis Court having duly Weighed and Considered the said
Report doth Confirm the same And Order that the Clerk do pay to
the said Thomas Holden for his said Extra Services in respect of Bridewell
Hospital £20and of Bethlem Hospital £10To be Allowed him in
his next Account.
