A Report being Read from the Comittee of this House
dated the 11th day of October 1753 under the hands of Robert Alsop< no role > Esqr
Aldn. Trear Richard Roman< no role > Esqr. Mr. Robert Elliot< no role > Mr. Thos Leonard< no role >
Mr. Charles Lowth< no role > , John Lock< no role > Esqr Mr John Hawkins< no role > as follows Vizt.
A Report being read of the Sub-Comittee who Viewed the
premisses hereunder mentioned This Comittee took into Consideration
the Petition of Thomas Curteis< no role > referr'd by the Court the 25 of May 1753
Setting forth that on his Proposal to take a Lease from Lady day 1751
for 61 years of 3 old Messes on the Northside of Wapping Street and
4 Messes on the Southside which were in a ruinous Condition and
Necessary to be pulled down & rebuilt & to pay the Old rent of £13 PAnn
and a further rent of £7 P Ann clear of Taxes makeing together £20 P Ann
and £100 Fine and to lay out of £1500 in New building a Lease and
Accordingly Ordered at a Court 29th. of April 1748 And the Petr has paid his
Fine and finished his buildings on both sides of the Street in such
a Substantial Manner that the he was Obliged to lay out no more
than £1500 the same have Accounted to above double that sum
He therefore prays an Additional Term of 10 Years and that his
Lease may be made for 70 Years from Lady day 1752 New ShileThis
Comittee are of Opinion That his reason able to Allow him the Addition
Term of 10 years as he desires which will expire Lady day 1822 and
may be an Encouragement to others to build in a like Substantial manner
All it is Ordered that this Opinion be Reported to the CourtThis
Court having duly weighed and Considered the said Report doth
Confirm the same And Order that the Lease be made to the said
Mr. Curteis Accordingly.

Pointer Robt. £10. Locks Gift


Mr. John Walton< no role > and Mr. Philip Bromfield< no role > reported That in
Pursuance of an Order of Court the 8th. day of August 1753
they had made Enquiry and found That Robert Pointer< no role > Tailor , who
Served his Apprenticeship in this Hospital to Robert Hadwen< no role >
is set up for himself in his said Trade and has the Character of
a Diligent and Sober ManIt is Ordered That the
Steward do pay to the said Robert Pointer Ten Pounds out of Mr Locks Gift
