Beadles Grat ½ yr. Xmas 1743


Upon reading the humble petition of the four Beadles of this Hospital
for their usual Gratuitys of Forty shillings a peice in respect of the half
Year ending at Christmas last for that their Salarys are but small
It is Ordered that the Clerk of this Hospital do give and pay unto them
Forty shillings a peice to be allowed him in his next Account.

Basketmen's do


Upon reading the humble petition of the three Beadles or Basketmen of the
Hospital of Bethlem for their usual Gratuitys of Twenty Shillings a
peice in respect of the half year ending at Christmas last for that the
Salarys are but smallIt is Ordered that the Cloerk of this Hospital
do give and pay unto them Twenty shillings a peice to be a allowed him
in his next Account.

Ordered that Mr. Taylor do direct an Apprentice to be Entred to the
Bill in Chancery brought against the Governors of these Hospitalls
by Mr. Foster and Mr. Duncalf Exors of George Lewen< no role > Esqr . dead.

Upon reading the humble petition of John Walker< no role > Esqr . setting forth
That the Govrs. by Indre dat 31st. July 1703 devised to Henry
Whister
< no role > Gent Several Peices or parcells of Ground & Soil lying and
being in Wapping Street near Wapping Dock & other Soft Peices or
parcells of Ground & Soil lying in Wapping aforesaid on the Thames
side in the parish if St. John Wapping in the County of Middle To
hold from mid 1703 for 61 years at the yearly Kent of £25. which
Lease expires at Midsr. 1764That diverse Messrs or Tenements
Warehourses Wharfs & other Buildings were afterwards built on the
said several peices of GroundThat the said premisses by
several mesne Assignments are become vested in the Petr. for the
remainder of the said Term of 61 yearsThat four of the said
Messuages with the Warehouses Wharfed Apprentices there to
belonging ( which were in the several Occupations of Thos. Turners
John Hall< no role > Capt Landifield & Wm. Eades all situate on the South
side of the said Street near Wapping Dock ) were burnt down by this
late dread full five there whereby the Petr. is lyable to become a
great Sufferer the said Messes any on either of them not being
insuredAnd praying that upon his Surrendeing the Lease in
being the ovrs. will be pleased to grant him a New Lease of the
premes now standing for the reside of the Term to come in the old
Leaseand a new Lease of the Ground whereon the said four
Messuages with Warehouse & Wharfs stood for an additional
Term to make up the Term in being 61 years & the Ground rent to
apportioned as the Govrs. shall think fit and the Pets will layout
One thousand pounds in rebuilding the premes lately burnt
It is Ordered that the said Petition be referred to the Comittee of
this House to consider thereof & report their Opinion thereon to
the Court.
