Memorial to it presented to
the Court}


Walter Pryse< no role > Esqr . one of the Governors acquainted this Court that
in pursuance of an Order of Court th 18th. Novr. last a Memorial
from this Court had been drawn up & presented to the Court at
Christ Hospital as followsTo the Right Worspll the President
& the Worspll the Treasure & Governors of Christs Hospital London
The Memorial of The President Treasurer & Governors of
Bridewell Hospital LondonShewethThat your Memorialists
being desires of extending as for as they can the benefit of the
Charitable Gifts to Bridewell Hospital & particularly be enabling the
Arstmasters in the said Hospital to educate and construct in their
several Trades such poor Children as shall be put apprentices to them
by the Govrs. according to the good intent of the worth Deners
And considering that great Quantitys of Shoes are annually provided
by your Worship (& as your Memorialists are informed are made at
Northampton ) for the Children of your Hospital, your Memorialist
obtained from one of your Officer a pair of shoes of each of the Sizes
usually made for the said Children & an Account of the price pair for
the same & Ordered one of the Arstmasters of that Trade a Freeman of
this City to make a pair of Shoes to each Pattern which he accordingly
did & laid the same before the House Comittee of the said Hospital of
Bridewell and affirmd that his said Shoes were as good or rather
better than the Patters from your Hospital and that he would make
any Quantity that should be required at the same price your Worship
pay & upon comparing the said Arstmasters Shoes with the Patter [..]
the said Comee were of Opinion his Shoes were at least equal in
strength and goodnessWherefore your Memorials desire that
for promoting & encouraing the Charity or Bridewell Hospital in
particular & the Trade of the Citizens of London in general your
Worships will be pleased to permit the Shoes for your Hospital to be
provided by the Arstmasters in Bridewell Hospital so long as they
shall make em as cheap and as good as can be had of any foreign
ShoemakerAnd that the Governors in this Hospital
had thereupon Ordered that the Shoemaker in this Hospital should
be employed to provide the said Shoes accordingly from next Lady dry.

Ordered that it be referred to Mr. Treasure to lend to Mr. William
Wendon
< no role > the Shoemaker 's in this House any Sum or sums of money
on his Bend not exceeding in ill Fifty pounds without Interest the
better to enable him to furnish the Shoes for Christ Hospital .

This Court declared the Vacancy of an Arstmaster of this Hospital
in the room of Mr. William Cooke< no role > who has resigned
