Upon reading the humble petition of the Governor & Company of the New River
brought from Chadwell & Annwell to London & of Humphry Ambler< no role > Gent
setting forthThat by Indre of Lease bearing date the 23d. Decr. 1714. the
Govrs. Did demise to the Petr. Ambler All that then double Brick Messuage
And all those three single brick Messuages then or late in the Occupations
of the Petr Ambler< no role > & George Dyer< no role > Richard Audin< no role > & Richard Green< no role > And all
those Tofts Ground Soil & Yard with the Stables Wheelers Shop & Shedd
thereon Erected & tho Wharf lying next the River Thomas with the Crane
And all Messes Tinements Haylofts & Buildings thereon Erected & made or
to be Erected & made which said Premies are therein mentioned to contain the
several dimensions Abuttals & Boundarys therein & in the Ground Plott
thereto an next mentioned and to lye in the Precinct of Bridewell London
To hold from Michas 1714. for 37 years at the Yearly Rent of £100 payable
as therein is ExpressedThat by Indre dated the 10th. of May 1716. the
Petr. Ambler demised to the said Governor & Company the said several
premisses for 35 years to commence from the 25th. of March 1716.That
the said Govrs. & Company have been ever since & now are in possession of
the said premisses and have laid out above £2000 in Buildings and
Improvements thereon and in repairing the Wharfing against the River
ThomasThat the said Govr. & Company have contracted with the
Petr. Ambler for the absolute purchase of all his Right & Interest in the
premisses for the remainder of his Term thereinThat the Wharfing
of the premes against the River Thames in grently out of repair by the
Beating of the Barges & other Craft against the same so that it will Cost
£600 at least to repair the same effectually And there are other considerable
repairs wanted on the premissesTherefore the Petr. Ambler prayed that
he may have leave to alienate the said premes to the said Govr. & Company
for the remainder of his term thereinAnd the said Govr. & Company
prayed that on such Alienation they may have a renewell of the said Lease
for such Term as may encourage them to expend the great Sums of money
necessary to be laid out theron as aforesaidIt is Ordered that
the said Petition be referred to the Comittee of this House to consider of the
same & to make their Report thereon to the CourtAnd it is further
Ordered that it be an instruction to the Comittee that they do endeavour
to let the Vacant houses and places adjoining or adjacent to the premisses
aforesaid at the same time they take into Consideration the said Petition.

Xmas 1742.}


Upon reading the humble petition of the four Beadles of this Hospital for their upon
Gratuitys of Forty Shillings a peice in respect of the half year ending at Christmas
last for that their Salarys are but smallIt is Ordered that the Clock of
these Hospitalls do give and pay unto them Forty Shillings a peice to be allowed
him in his next Account.

Basketmens do


Upon reading the humble petition of the three Beadles or Basketmen of the Hospital
of Bethlem for their usual Gratuitys of Twenty Shillings a peice in respect of
the half year ending at Christmas last for that their Salarys are but small
It is Ordered that the Clerk of these Hospitalls do give and pay unto
them Twenty Shillings a peice to be allowed him in his next Account.

Apprentice


At this Court the following poor Boys were Ordered to be put Apprentices at
the Nomination of the Governors hereafter named Vizt.

Ordered that after any Prosecutor have been summoned & appeared at a Court
