Upon reading a Report from the Comittee of this house bearing date the
6th. of October instant master the hands of Dr. Richard Rawlinson< no role > Mr. John
Whalley
< no role > Peter Flower< no role > Esqr . Mr. Gilbert Matcher< no role > & Mr. Robert Ester< no role > in the wards and
figures following ViztUpon reading the humble petition of William
Cooke
< no role > Weaver one of the Artsmaster s settingforth That henry Weston< no role > the
was Apprentice to William Stead< no role > Hempdresser one of the Artsmasters
deced was by Order of the Comittee plaud with the Petr. when he had but
five years to serveAnd the Petr. being writing to lose one year of the
said boys time desired he might either serve one year beyond the five
or that the Petr. might have some Compensation for the less he would
Sustain of the last years service Whereupon the said Comittee 3d. Decemr. 1729.
were of Opinion that if the said Henry Weston did not serve the Peter one
year after the five year that he eight not be have part of Mr. Locks gift
but that the Petr. eight to have £10. as are compence for the less of the
last part of the said Apprentice haveThat the said Henry Waster
Served the Petr. about four years & in Decr. 1733. run away and has never
since returnedTherefore prayed the Governors will be pleased to at the
him £10. as a Compensation for his loss of the said Henry Waster times
This Comittee find the Alligations of the said Petition are time
And upon considering the same are of Opinion to allow the said Mr. Cooke
Ten poundsall which is nevertheless submitted to the Judgment of
the CourtAnd it is Ordered that this Opinion be reported to the
CourtThis Court having duly weighted and considered of the
said Report doth Confirm the same and Order that the Steward
of this Hospital do pay unto the said Mr. Cooke Ten pounds to be
allowed him in his next Account.

Govr. recover his Charge


At this Court the Charge was read to Dr. William Battie< no role > as one of
the Governors of these Hospitals.

Apprentices


At this Court William London< no role > a poor boy at the Nomination of Mr
Deputy Farrington was ordered to be put out Apprentices to one of the
Artsmasters of this Hospitals.

Letter referred to Comee}


Mr. President acquainted this Court that he had reced a Letter directed to
him which he had opned & read and having delivered it to the Clack & the
saye being read to this Court as follows ViztSr . Jane desired by the
Lessons by the City Laytolls (for whom I am concerned) to acquainted you that
by their Lease from the City they are oblidged to indict and prosecute all
premises whatsoever who shall lay load or every away in any Lighter Bart
on Barge any Dung or Lord between the Temple & Tower Whereof which
Covenant they are setting and ready to execute at every place except the
Precinct of Bridewell who pleads it a Benplace for During and Said made
in that Precinct which if they did not round we should think at but there
is one Mr. Palmer has taken upon him to clear several Jans about the City
and hire the Rakers Men to carry the Soil of the Streets of the City to the
said place by which means it if become a Common Laystall and loads more
Dining there than we de at [..] one of our three Laystills to the ring great
prejudice of is who paid a large Fine at the purchase of the Lease and
£170. P and Rent to the City to upwards of £110 P and JamesI take
this freedom of Boulling you, you being President of Bridewell may order
that such Ding and Sell Shall not be comed these for the future and are
us a very great dent of thouble either by petitioning the Right Heable The
Lord Mayer be Court of Aldeman or by engaging our selves in a long course
of LawYour granting us this request till lays lading oligistion on

this House to examine into the matters contained in the said letter & to
report the same with their Opinion thereon to the Court.
