upon the Visit


Upon reading a Report from the Committee appointed to view the Terms in
Kent bearing date the 29th. of Sepr. last under the hand of Edward Holloway< no role >
Esqr . Trear , Peter Flower< no role > Esqr . Mr. Gilbert Matcher< no role > & Mr. Deputy Pycroft in
the words and figures following Vizt. In pursuance of an Order of Court
holden at Bridewell Hospital the 29th. day of July last Wee whose names
are hereto subscribed have [..] the Farms in Kent hereafter mentioned
bring part of the possessions of Bethlem Hospital Vizt.

On Thursday the 26th. day of August last Wee viewed Breston from the
Gift of Mr. Pott about ten Miles from Canterbuy, in Occupation of Nathaniel
Allen
< no role > at £80. P and when Awester (as he informed as) have occupyal the
same for alove an hundred year past & he desired his Lease (which till expires
next Michaelmas) may be remained for Twenty one year at the same rent
Wee found the Lond & Buillings in good Order But as we do not find any
Plan of this Term nor the particular mentioned in any Writing, we desired
him to send up a particular of the Lands which he has accordingly done
But before a New Lease ig granted we think it could be proper to have a
Draught made of the Lands with the names of the particular Grounds upon
a View to be taken for that purposee, that a Sawey & Admeasurement may be
afterwards made if it should be found necessary.

Cottington form

On Friday the 27th. Wee viewed Cottington farm purchased by the Govrs.)
about two Mills from Deal in occupation of John Gurney< no role > at £253 P ann
whose Lease has been sometime expired and he desired to have a New Lease
for Twenty one years at the some rentBut he hopes the Governors
will allow him a New Barnflow which is very much wanted and will
take up about Forty Deals and with the Joysts and Workman ship will
amount to about Twelve pounds which wee are of Opinions to allow him
and as he is Straitned for com in his house he likewise desires the
Governors will allow him a New Room twelve foot square with a Room
over it to be joined to the two sides of an Angle in the back front of
his house which as he says will be a small expense To this we gave him
no other Answer than that he might sent up an Estimate of the Charge
that the Governors might consider of itThere is a Map of this farer
and nor found the premisses in very good Order and an of Opinion it till
be proper upon his Petition to grant him a New Lease at the same rent
& to give him some Allowance for building the two Rooms he desires.

Cliffe end Farm

The same day Wee wound Cliffe and farm (in the parish of St. Lawrence
in the Isle of Thanet about or Mile from Ramsgate ) the Gift of Mr. Parsons
in Occupation of William Cooper< no role > at £80. P and whose Lease to expired
and he desires to have a New Lease for Twenty one years at the sam rent
They is a Map of this Term and Wee find the premisses in good
Order and one of Opinion it will be proper upon his Petition to grant him.

Gallons [..] Farm
Stephen West< no role > Tenant

On Saturday the 28th. Was viewed Gallons farm (in the parishes of St. John
and Minder in the Isle of Thanet near Margart the Gift of Mr. Edmanun) in
occupation of Stephen Evans< no role > at £80 P and on a Lease for Twenty one years
from Masters 1722. which will expire at Michas 1743There is in Map
of this form which Ages to the Sea side and we find that upon taking this
Lease he agreed to pay £140. fine being allowed out of it £40. for a
Stable for six Houses which be accordingly built And that at a Comittee
16th. April 1728. he acquainted them he had laid out above £40. in
building the said Stable and prayed that the rest of the Fines might be
allowed Mallhouse planking the Where Bawn & repairing the old Pedder House
all which according to un Estimate he then brought would a mount to
£85. and the Comittee were of Opinion to allow £50.and he
paid
