Upon reading the humble Petition of John Smither< no role > of St. Mary le Bone
in the County of Middx Bricklayer Setting forthThat he is willing
to take a Lease or Leases of the two Houses in St. Martins Lane now in
the tenure or occupation of George Pearce< no role > and Charles Home< no role > with such
Covenants as are usually contained in the Leases from the Governors
to their Tenants for the Term of Sixty one year to commence from
Christmas next at the Yearly Rent of £12.payable Quarterly clear
of all Taxes the first Year to be at a Popper Corn Rent and to pay a
Fine of £20. at the Execution of the said Lease of Leases so as the
same be excutted in three Months and to execute Counter parts of the
said Leases. and proposes to build according to the second rate of Building
in London and to lay out £600. or £700. in building the premes
And praying the Governors to grant him a Lease or Leases according
to his said proposalsIt is Ordered that the said Petition be
referred to the Comee of this Hospital who are to consider the same
and report their Opinion there on to the Court.

Upon reading the Petition of Sr . John Eyles< no role > Barrt . & Aldn . Exor of the last
will and Testament of St. Joseph Eyles< no role > Knt. & Aldn . deced sellingforth
That a Lease was ordered to be made to the said Sr . Joseph Eyles< no role > in
his life time of A peice of Ground belonging to Bethlem Hospital
formerly in the Occupation ofMiller in Old Bethlem for a
Term of years which will expire at Christmass 1776. at the Rent
of £12. P Ann and he to pay a Fine of £60. and to lay out £250
in Building where of at least £200. was to be laid out in Building
one Brick Messuage after the second rate of Building fronting
the Street and to set back twelve foot from the front of the old
BuildingThat the said Sr . Joseph Eyles< no role > paid the said Fine
and build the said Brick Messuage where on he laid out much more
than £250. but the said Lease was never executedAnd praying
that the said Lease may be made to him who is one of the surerving
and the only one of the Executors who have proved the said Will
This Court having considered the said Petition Doth Order that the
said Lease be made to the said Sr . John Eyles< no role > accordingly.

Upon reading the humble Petition of the several Engine Weavers
who served their Apprenticeships in this Hospital and also of several
master Engine Weavers on be half of themselves and several others
in that branch of Trade whose names are there to subscribed setting forth
That upon several applications by them formerly made by reason
of the great number of Apprentices brought up in that business & the
great decay of that Trade the Govrs. were pleased to order that no more
Engine Looms should be set up in this Hospital without the especial
leave of the CourtThat since the said Application of the Petrs
many Apprentices which have been brought up in this Hospital as
well as elsewhere have (for want of work at the said Business) become
Porters Laborers and some are begging their BreadThat it is with
great Concern the Petrs are now again become trouble some by reason
of an Application to the Govrs. by a person of the Engine Trade to be
admitted an Artsmaster into this Hospital who in order there to hath
published a paper under the name of a Representation to the Governors
setting forth the said business to be very benefecial in which paper the
Petrs beg leave to averr are contained many facts & Allegations which he
cannot make appear to be true in any manner whatsoeverAnd praying
the Govrs. to inform themselves of the Facts there in contained & in said
printed paper setforth and to hear the Petrs. there to and likewise to
perform and establish the former Order
