Friday 11th. Novr. 1737 .

Term of 21 years in the premes to commence from the Expiration of the Lease
in beingAnd the said Messages being very much decayed, it will last £300.
and upwards to put them into Tenantable repairand the rents of the premes
being considerably deceased of late years the Petrs. propose to take such Lease
for 21 years out £300 in repairing the premisses and to pay a Fine of £200.
And praying such additional Lease according to their said proposals
It is Ordered that it be referred to the Committee of this House to consider
of the said Petition and to report their opinion therein to the Court.

Upon reading the humble Petition of Frederick Burley< no role > of the Parish of St. Martin
in the Fields Hosier and Nathaniel Brown< no role > of the same place Gentleman
setting forthThat by Indre of Demise bearing date 14th. March 1689 The
Governors in consideration of the Surrender of a former Lease and of £1600. laid
out in New building in the premes Did demise to Hugh Hamersley< no role > This name instance is in a workspace. All that
Ground Yard or Garden at Charing Cross in the Parish of Saint Martin in
the Fields in the County of Middx and five Brick Messuages and Buildings
thereon then erected and builtTo Hold from Laday then last for 51
years at £100. P ann Rent payable Quarterly which expires at Laday 1740
That the Petrs. are willing to take a Lease of the above premises for 21
years to commence from the Expiration of the Lease in beingAnd the
said Messuages being very much decayed, It will cost £300. and upwards
to put them into Tenantable repairand the rents of these premos
being considerably lessned for several years pastthe Petrs. therefore
propose to take such Lease for 21 Years and to pay the yearly Rent of
£80. and to lay out £300. in repairs and to pay a Fine of £220.
And paying a Lease according to their said proposalsIt is ordered
that it be referred to the Committee of this House to consider of the said
Petition and to report their opinion therein to this Court.

Petr for Lease of Houses in
Old Bethlem

Upon reading the humble Petition of Joseph Whitchurch< no role > Citizen & Haberdasher
of London setting forthThat by Indre of Lease dated 16th. March 1676. the
Governors demised to William Bates< no role > A Toft or parcell of Ground whereon the
old Hospital of Bethlem then lately stood together with two messages at the
East end thereof and the Ground and Soil whereon a Great Chimney and other
Buildings called a Barn was then standing situate and being without Bishopsgate
LondonTo hold from Laday 1677 for 61 years at the yearly Rent of £70
payable Quarterly with a Covenant to lay out £500. in re building Substanfial
Houses on the presens which Lease will expire at Laday next 1738That the
said William Bates< no role > executed 22 Houses on the said Ground and premes and laid
out a considerable Sum therein, more than he was oblidged by his said Come [..]
And the said premisses by several mesne Assignments are become rested
in the Petr. for the residue of the Term yet to come in the said LeaseThat
three of the said Houses adjorning to globe Yard have since been demised [..]
to be demised by the Governors to John Baker< no role > for a Term of 60 years to commace
from the Expiration of the Petr. term therein and the other 19 Houses are
very much decayedThat the Petr. is willing and proposes to take a
Lease or Leases of the said other 19 Houses for the term of 21 years to
commence from the Expiration of the former Lease and to pay a Fine of
£100. down and to pay the yearly Rent of £60. by Quarterly payments
and to lay out £350. in repairing the premes and to report their opinion therein
of such LeasesAnd praying a Lease or Leases thereof according to his
said proposalsIt is ordered that it be referred to the Comittee of this
House to consider of the said Petition and to report their opinion therein
to the Court.
