Upon Reading the humble Petition of James Smith< no role > Citizen and Weaver of
LondonSettingforth That his late Father John Smith< no role > was an Artsmaster
of this Hospital about seven years and dyed the 17th. of November last
That the Petr. served his Apprenticeship in this Hospital to his said late father
and always lived with him till the time of his death and is very well acquainted
with the Rules and Customs of this House which he shall be always ready to
Comply withThat his said late father left a Widow unprovided for &
the Petr. is in duty bound to assist her which he is very willing to do to the utmost
of his powerAnd praying to be Elected an Artsmaster in the room of
his said late fatherAnd the Question being put that the said James
Smith
< no role > be Elected an Artsmaster of this Hospital He was Nemine
Contradicente Elected an Artsmaster till the next Election dayAnd
It is Ordered that the said James Smith< no role > be admitted accordingly
upon his giving Security as usual and Entering into the usual Covenants
with a Covenant to be added that he will not set up or use any Engine
Looms in this Hospital and that the Journeyman which he shall Employ
in his said Trade shall be such as have served their Apprenticeships
in this HospitalAnd it is further Ordered that he have
such Apartment in this Hospital as the Comittee of this House shall direct.
