Misbehaviour}


The said Mr. Thatcher also complained of his Apprentice Thomas Wells< no role > that he
runs away from him frequently and Entices his fellow Apprentices to do the same It appeard
that the said Thomas Wells< no role > has been lately sick and that he had a Blister on his Back
last Week so the Court did not think proper to correct him this time Whereupon he
was reprimanded by Mr. President and Orderd to return home to his said Master
upon his promise to behave himself well for the future.

Upon Reading a Petition and also an Affidavit (to the same purport) of
Marmaduke Parsley< no role > Apprentice to the said Mr. Thatcher setting forthThat his
said Mar. gave him a Blow on the Eye with a Horsewhip and bruised him in severall
parts of his body in a very barbarous manner which has renderd him incapable of working
at his Trade and praying to be dischargd from serving his said Master any longer
Mr. William Phillips< no role > one of the Governours of this Hospital viewd the said Parsley's
Eyes and acquainted the Court that they are not in the least damagdMr. Thatcher
acquainted the Court that the said Boy had made it his practice to steal his Victuals &
that he carried it to George Gale< no role > a very dissolute Fellow and a Prisoner in Clerkenwell
Bridewell and that the said Boy had got into Company with a Gang of Theives and
lived for sometime in Newgate with blind Cooper. Another of Mr. Thatchers
Apprentices told the Court he has heard the said Parsley say that he carried his Masters
Victuals to the said George Gale< no role > in Bridewell A Weaver in Spittlefeilds
whom Mr. Thatcher works for acquainted the Court that he was ready to make Affidt.
(if require) That the said Parsley has not earnd Mr. Thatcher above 13 pence a
Week, one Week with another for a Year and a half past he having kept an Account
of the said Parsley's work for that timeThe said Boy confessed he lived with
blind Cooper in Newgate for sometime and had nothing to say in his defence as to the other
matters he was chargd with And the Court being well satisfyd that the said Parsley
is a notorious lewd idle fellow and keeps very bad Company It is Order'd that
he be corrected in the presence of the rest of the Apprentices in this Hospital (which
was done accordingly) and that he return home to his said Master.

Apprentices who was Corrected by the Court ye. 28th. September last has behav'd himself

Mr. James Cundett< no role > one of the Artsmasters of this Hospital being sick Mr. George
Male
< no role > his Son in Law acquainted the Court That John Henwood< no role > (an Apprentice of the said
Mr. Cundetts) who was corrected last Court and John Lewis< no role > (another of Mr. Cundetts
Apprentices ) whose Correction was last Court suspended upon his promise of Amendment
behave themselves but very indifferently since and that the said Lewis got drunk one night
and took a Hackney Coach and endeavored to Cheat the Coachman of his FareThe said
John Lewis< no role > acknowledgd these things to be true but said he paid the Coachman suite And that
he has had a sore Thumb which has linderd him from working but promissd to do his Work
well for the futureThe said John Henwood< no role > not being a Court he being sent on in
Errand by his Master nothing was done as to him but the said John Lewis< no role > was reprimanded
by Mr. President and Order'd to return home to his Master
