of a House in Holborn (No.2.)}


Upon Reading a Report from the Comittee of this House under the hands
of John Tayler< no role > Esqr . Trear Mr. Valentine Brewis< no role > Mr. Robert Vincent< no role > Mr. James
Bartlott
< no role > & Sr. Samuel Clarke< no role > bearing date the 22d. day of March last in the words
following Vizt:This Comittee having taken into Consideration the proposal
of Samuel Arnold< no role > on behalf of Barbara Hayward< no role > the present Tenant praying that
he may have a Lease of the House in Holborn (No.2) for 21 years without the
narrow Slip of ground to the necessary House at £10. P Ann Rent & £125. Fine
without the Botcher's Stall adjoining and if he has the Botchers Stall added to his
Lease within 2 Years then he proposes to pay a Fine of £125. more As also the
proposal of Mr. Thomas Booth< no role > Cheesemonger praying to have a Lease of the same
premisses for 21 Years from Midsumer next at £10. P Ann Rent clear of Taxes
and to pay down a Fine of £160. without the Botchers Stall and £20. more with
it to take the House in the Condition it now is and to put it in good repair and keep it
so during the Term and John Tayler< no role > Esqr . Trear Mr. Deputy Vincent Mr. Deputy
Brewis & Mr. James Bertlett< no role > having veiw'd the same premisses Reported to this Comee
That it was their opinion that the said premisses be lett for 21 years without the
narrow ground to the necessary house & without the Botchers Stall adjoining to the House
but in case they can get leave of the Owner of the Houses in Hand Court to let their
Tenants have a way and passage thro' and also Liberty to make Doors & Windows into
the said Court then the said Governors reported that the said Botchers Stall should
be added to and let with the said premisses and the said Samuel Arnold< no role > & Mr. Booth
having been several times calld in, the said Mr. Arnold offerd to give a Fine of £25.
more without the Botchers Stall and the said Mr. Booth having amended his said
proposal offered to give a Fine of £190. without the Botchers Stall and £30. more
with it and that a Schedule should be made of the things that now are or hereafter shall
be fixed on the premisses which are to be left there at the End of the Term This Comee
are of opinion to accept the proposal of the said Mr. Booth whereupon he gave a Guinea
to the Poors Box All which neverthless is submitted to the Judgment of the Court
This Court doth Confirm the said Report and Order That a Lease
be made to the said Mr. Booth accordingly.

George Welham< no role > and Mr. Thomas Hammond< no role > bearing date the 9th. day of February
last in the words following Vizt.This Comittee having taken into consideraccon
the petition and proposal of Mr. John Houlditch< no role > praying That he may have a Lease
of the House late Foddys (in Bridewell Precinct (No. 5:6) for 11 years from
Lady day then next at the Rent of £21. P Ann clear of Taxes and to have his
option of continuing it at the End of that Term ten Years longer to make the Term
21 years with a Covenant that he will pay such poor and other rates as shall be
setled or agreed on at the Vestry of the Precinct And also the petition &
proposal of Mr. Parratt Featon< no role > praying That he may have a Lease of the
said premisses for 7.14. or 21 years at his option to comence at Lady day then
next at £20. P Ann Rent. the Hospital putting the House in repair or to
allow him a Year's Rent to do it himself and having considered the said proposals are
of opinion to accept of the proposal of the said Mr. John Houlditch< no role > upon which he
gave half a Guinea to the Poor's Box All which nevertheless is submitted to the
Judgment of the CourtThis Court doth Confirm the said Report and
Order that a Lease be made to the said Mr. Houlditch accordingly.
