Mary Rawlins aged near 32 years lodging at one Mr Francis in Dawsons Alley in Bedfordbury where she hath lodged two months saith she is the widow of Christopher Rawlins who has been dead about 12 years, that she was married to him at the sign of the Vine in Fleet Lane about 15 years ago, that her said husband was a Carpenter and was bound apprentice by indenture for seven years to one Mr Johnson, a Carpenter who then lived in Long Acre as her said husband hath informed her (but never heard in what part), that her said husband hath likewise informed her this Examinant that after he served the said Mr Johnston one year part of his said apprenticeship at his house in Long Acre aforesaid they parted by consent and that he never was turned over to any other person, and that it is about 18 years ago since her husband parted from the said Mr Johnston his said Master, and this Examinant further saith that about three years after the death of her said husband she being a single woman having no child or children living was a yearly hired servant to one Mr Kirby, a Pawnbroker who then lived in Hartshorne Lane in the Parish of St Martin in the Fields whom she there served one year and two months, that she had 4 pounds per ann. wages diet and lodging, which service he quitted about nine years ago and hath not kept any house rented 10 pounds per ann. paid any parish taxes or been a year in any service since. Sworn the first Day of January 1740 before me Val Hilder.
