Whereas In was recommended and referred by this Court to Us

whose hands are hereunto subscribed being amongst others

appointed a Committee by Order made on the 25th: day of June

last to take into Consideration the Provisions made (by the Act

of Parliament lately passed Entitled On Act for better peving and

cleansing the Streets in the City and Liberty of Westmr: And to

Enquire Examine and consider of the Difficulties and Obstruccons

the Justices have mett end do meet with in putting the said Act
<

in Execution in regard in has been observed by severall of the
<
lb

Justices of the Peace for this City and Liberty That notwithstanding

they have constantly held their Speciall Sessions within their
<
lb

</
lb
>
respective Parished for putting the said Act in Execucon and have
<
lb

lb
>
done what in them lies that the Good intended by the said Act
<
lb

lb

might have its full force and Effect and which might reasonably
<
lb

lb
>
have been expected It has not been in their Power to oblidged
<
lb

lb

All the Pavements to be Effectually amended.

Wee do therefore Certify this Court in Obedience to the

said Order which desires Us to report a State of our Enquiry and

Examination in the premisses and Our Opinions thereupon That

Wee have mett together And upon Enquiry made in the premisses

and Proceedings had in the severall Parishes within this City

and Liberty by the Justices Do find That the Justices have

Appointed Surveyors of the Streets in all the said Parished at the

times directed by the said Statute and have regularly held their

Sessions to receive the Presentments of the Surveyors which they

have certifyed under their hands and Seales and presented the
<
lb

lb

Defaulter for bad Pavements and Neglects in cleansing the Streets
<

>
to the next Quarter Sessions in the forme and Wards prescribed
<

>
by the said Act, And that this Court, hath sett fines on such

Presentments upon the Parsons presented As in the Case of a

Presentment on View of a Highway out of repair grounded on
