Leading out of the Parrish of St Thomas<lb></lb>
Southwarke into the Tents was soe narrow that there was not roome<lb></lb>
to carry a Corps to Buryall and much lesse to afford convenient<lb></lb>
Assistance in case of Fire, And the Tenements on both sides of<lb></lb>
that Passage being old darke and ruinous and one of them on the<lb></lb>
Southside thereof late in the tenure of Widdow Campion was and for some<lb></lb>
time had beene Empty and noe Pson desired to take the same, and the<lb></lb>
other on that side was possessed by Francis Starling whoe paid but Twenty<lb></lb>
Shillings a year for it and was much behind hand and part of the tenement<lb></lb>
on the Northside held by <rs type="persName" id="LMTHMG55301_n45-1">Thomas Bartholomew</rs>

for want of payment of Rent and Fine, whereby there was not only roome<lb></lb>
for making a convenient Cart way but alsoe ground to build Two good<lb></lb>
Tenements on each side thereof; The Comittee acquainted the Court with<lb></lb>
the prmisses and that they had directed and agreed not only the<lb></lb>
enlarging the said Way as aforesaid, but alsoe the building of the<lb></lb>
said two new tenements as aforesaid at the charge of this house<lb></lb>
which was approved and allowed by this Court; And It is ordered<lb></lb>
by the Court according to the report of the said Comittee That the<lb></lb>
said <rs type="persName" id="LMTHMG55301_n45-3">Thomas Bartholomew</rs>

of Nine years comencing from Michas last being the Terme<lb></lb>
he had in his lease of his former house paying Twenty and two-<lb></lb>
shillings P Annu as an increase of Rent to the Rent of Foure and<lb></lb>
forty shillings P Ann he paid by that Lease, Soe that now he is to<lb></lb>
pay for that new house Three pounds Six shillings P Annu<lb></lb>
from Michas next besides Two and twenty Shillings P Ann more for<lb></lb>
part of another Tenement late held by Widdow Read And as to the other<lb></lb>
new Tenement on the Southside It is refferred to bee lett by the Comitt<obscured></obscured>

for the best advantage of the house; And it is alsoe ordered that<lb></lb>
the Kent and Fine charged as in arreares in the accompt on the<lb></lb>

-ing the Lease he hath of the same with another small Tenement<lb></lb>
at the North east end of the said Passage wherein Seaven yeares<lb></lb>
wibbe to come of Lady day 1680: under the yearly rent of Thirty<lb></lb>
Shillings and paying a Fine of five pounds; there shalbee a new<lb></lb>

Tenants for the same from the Bridg house; and that there is but Tenn<lb></lb>
years to come in our Lease at Midsomer next The Court did not think<lb></lb>
Fitt to treate with the said Mrs. Staplehurst for renewing her lease</p>
