<p n="332">Sir,</p>
<p n="333">I have duly considered the Papers which you did me the honour<lb></lb>
of Transmitting in your letter of the 1st instant; and I am to acquaint you<lb></lb>
that it has been the rule of this department, to avoid as much as possible all<lb></lb>
interference respecting the interior and municipal Provisions of the Militia Laws<lb></lb>
I agree in Opinion with the Magistrates of the <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMPS50924_geo328">County of Middlesex</rs>

<interp inst="LMSMPS50924_geo328" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
that Notice<lb></lb>
ought to be given by the Commanding Officers, To the Treasurers of the Respective<lb></lb>
Counties, of all casualties occurring in the Embodied Militia by Death Desert<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
or Discharge, and By Promotion from the Ranks; in order to prevent relief<lb></lb>
being continued to the Families of the Men, after the right thereto has actually<lb></lb>
cedsed: but it appears to me, that a Regulation for that purpose which in its<lb></lb>
operation is to superside the orders of the Justices of the Peace given in<lb></lb>
Conformity to the Existing Laws, can only with propriety be made by the<lb></lb>
Authority of Parliament.</p>
