Deponent Evans Saith That on 13th. April 1792 He was Convicted of<lb></lb>
having erected & built Certain first rate Dwelling Houses Situate in<lb></lb>

<p n="770">Saith That in pursuance of Luck Conviction He Entered into Seven Several Recognizances<lb></lb>
East in the Penal Sum of £200to Amend sd. buildings According to the Rules and<lb></lb>
Regulations Contained in sd. Act.</p>
<p n="771">Saith that Since the sd. Convictions he has Amended the sd. Sevl. Dwelling Houses According<lb></lb>
to the Rules and Regulations Contained in the Statute in thus Case made and Provided.</p>
<p n="772">Deponent Wooding Saith Truth has Seen and Surveyed the sd. Several Dwelling Houses<lb></lb>
above mentioned Since the said Convictions and is of Opinion this the same are in Every<lb></lb>
Respect built Erected or Attend to as to be now within the true Intent & Meaning of the sd.<lb></lb>
Act of Parliament.</p>
<p n="773">Mr Evans was allowed 12 Months to make the Alterationsbut Containing the Convictions<lb></lb>
to be illegal he Entered into Recog. to Appeal but aftwds finding it to sd. not Cost<lb></lb>
him Much to make the Alterations PreparedHe applied for & obtained have to<lb></lb>
withdraw the Appeals & those Recognizance.</p>
<p n="774">You will please to Observe that the Prosecutions was first Instituted by the City in Consequence<lb></lb>
of One of the Houses falling downIt was not One of Mr Evans's but an adjoining One<lb></lb>
And after a hearing before the Justices of 12 hours by Counsel-Two out of three were for<lb></lb>
Convictions Merely to being the Matter before the Sessions to Satisfy the Publick-atleast this is<lb></lb>
What we have been told.</p>
<p n="775">The City likewise Made Complaint that their Contract was not Complied with and with held<lb></lb>
the Leases on that AccountBut Mr. Evans Submitting to Alter & him Every respect directed by<lb></lb>
their Own Surveyor-He Certified the Contracts were performed and the Leases were Granted <lb></lb>
The District Surveyor too Certified that Six out of the Seven Houses Were Conformable<lb></lb>
to the ActAnd these Certificates were filed with the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50885_occ155">Clk of the Pease</rs>

-but are some how<lb></lb>
MislaidAs to the other there was Some very his his thing which was objected to has<lb></lb>
which has Lince been AmendedYou will say then Why Not get a Certificate of that<lb></lb>
and fresh Ones for those that an lostIn answer to which I can only SayThat the<lb></lb>
Surveyor himself having been Since Called before the Court for Neglect of his Duty in regard<lb></lb>
to these very Houses is <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50885_occ156">very Shy</rs>

of doing More than he Can avoidand as the time for his<lb></lb>
Certifying as Specified by the Act has Expired he does not Chase to Subject himself<lb></lb>
unnecessarily to the Censure of the City.</p>
<p n="776">Than given Not of Motion as Amend-and I dont know there will be any Opposition<lb></lb>
if There Shod. Instead of Moving to discharge the Recognizances Please to Move to Respite<lb></lb>
them Sine die-by which the City may if they please at any time himself Call upon Mr<lb></lb>
Evans to Make further AlterationsIf proved necessary</p>
