from the Grand Jury at their last General Session of the Peace held at <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMPS50823_geo6">Clerken-<lb></lb>

, on Thursday May the 24th 1787 a Representation of divers Irregularities and<lb></lb>
Enormities, which call for the active Extertions of the Magistrates and Parish<lb></lb>
Officers, and a more vigorous Execution of the Laws; And it being their earnest<lb></lb>
with that the good Purposes of the said Representation should be carried into Effect;<lb></lb>
They have thought proper to transmit the same together with the very respectable<lb></lb>
Names thereto subscribed, to the several Parishes in this County: And that the Laws<lb></lb>
respecting the several Matters complained of may be generally known, they have sub-<lb></lb>
joined Extracts from such of them as relate to the same, hoping that the Parish Officers<lb></lb>
and principal Inhabitants will exert themselves to see that the said Laws be duly car-<lb></lb>
ried into Execution in Matters of so much Consequence to the good Order as well<lb></lb>
as to the Happiness of the People.</p>
<p n="25">The Magistrates think it their Duty to recommend it to every Parish to pay a<lb></lb>
particular Attention to that Part of the Representation which respects the Profa-<lb></lb>
nation of the Lord's Day, the Disorders committed in Alehouses, and the great In-<lb></lb>
crease in the number of Vagrants, as the most important and essential steps towards<lb></lb>
putting a Stop to the Evils complained of.</p>
