<p n="915"> THE Right Reverend the Bishops having signified their Concern at the increasing Neglect and<lb></lb>
irreligious Disregard of GOOD FRIDAY, and an earnest Desire of the Assistance of the<lb></lb>
Magistrates towards the Remedy of so great an<obscured></obscured>
vil: HIS MAJESTY'S JUSTICES of the Peace<lb></lb>
for this County, ever desirous to co-operate with the GOVERNORS of our Church in promoting<lb></lb>
Religion and Virtue, and being also ever ready to exert their Authority and Influence, as well in the<lb></lb>
Restraint as the Punishment of Profaneness and immorality, DO HEREBY ORDER, AND<lb></lb>
STRICTLY REQUIRE of all Victuallers, and Keepers of Public Houses, exercising their Callings<lb></lb>
under the Licence of the said Justices, that, on the approaching FAST of GOOD FRIDAY, they<lb></lb>
suffer no Resort of Persons to their respective H<obscured></obscured>
es for the Purpose of drinking or tipling; but that,<lb></lb>
during the Time of Divine Service, on that Day<obscured></obscured>
they keep the same shut, as hath been accustomed<lb></lb>
on solemn Fast Days, on Pain of Forfeiture of their Recognizances, which bind them to the<lb></lb>
Observance of good Rule and Order in their Houses. And the said Justices DO HEREBY<lb></lb>
FURTHER ORDER AND STRICTLY REQUIRE the several High Constables of this<lb></lb>
County, together with the <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50681_occ197">petty Constables</rs>
<interp inst="LMSMPS50681_occ197" type="occupation" value="petty Constables"></interp>
in their respective Hundreds and Divisions, as well<lb></lb>
within Liberties as without, that they diligently attend to the Conduct and Behaviour of Victuallers<lb></lb>
and other Persons in this Respect; and that, on the First Day of the next General Quarter Session of<lb></lb>
the Peace to be holden for this County, they make a Return in Writing of the Names of all such<lb></lb>
Persons aforesaid as they shall find offending in the Premises, to the End that due Notice may be taken<lb></lb>
of them by the Justices in their several Division at the next annual licensing of Public Houses.</p>
<p n="916">And the said Justices do hereby earnestly exh<obscured></obscured>
t all Masters of Families within the said County,<lb></lb>
more especially such as have Apprentices, that then, together with their Families and Apprentices, duly<lb></lb>
attend Divine Service on the FAST DAY aforesaid; and in other Respects comply with the uniform<lb></lb>
Practice of all devout Christians in the Solemnities proper thereto.</p>
