<p n="2">Who being upon Oath Says, that about Six Months agoe he was sent forby <rs type="persName" id="LMSMPS50474_n2-1">John Fielding</rs>

, in order to acquaint this Informant<lb></lb>
that a Complaint had been made against him for keeping a Billiard Table, and further<lb></lb>
told him that he wod. have him Prosecuted it he did not Stop Playing, but notwithstanding<lb></lb>
that this Informant made several Applications afterwards to the said Justice for Leave<lb></lb>
to Play but was Possitively told by the said Justice that he shod. Play no more, And this<lb></lb>
Informt. Says Seen afterwards one thomas Derien came to this Informant's house telling<lb></lb>
him he had got two Friends that were the Justice's Clerk's aquaintance<gap reason="illegible"></gap>
who he beleived wod,<lb></lb>
Speak to the Justice in this Informants behalf and by that means this Informt. wod. be<lb></lb>
Permitted to go on with his Play, That about ten Days afterwards this Informant mett<lb></lb>

at the two blue Ports in Maiden Lane who altogether told this Informant that his buisness was Done<del>and</del>

he might go on with his Billiard Table<del>but</del>
and wod. not be Molerted any more,<lb></lb>
but that he this Informt. must give them five guineas more (they having had two<lb></lb>
Guineas before of this Informant) that upon giving them the Money, the said therein<lb></lb>
Persons gave him a Joint Promissory Note<gap reason="illegible"></gap>
to return the Money it in case this<lb></lb>
Informant shod. be afterwards Molested, which Note is in the following Words, ( to wit)<lb></lb>
Wee Jointly or Seporetly Promise to Pay to Mr. Paul Planche five Pounds Five<lb></lb>
shillings in Case he should be Molested by Mr.Justice Fielding in regard of<lb></lb>
continuing his Billiard Table at his house the Mount Pelier <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMPS50474_geo4">Coffee house</rs>

& us, games Kenny, Fele Cofey, thomas Deriens ,<lb></lb>
and this Informant says that he was cheated and Depended of the Sum of, Seven guineas by<lb></lb>
abovesaid Persons in the manner aforesaid. and the Informt. Says that before he met<lb></lb>
the aforesaid there Persons at the<obscured></obscured>
Ports, they sert for him several time<obscured></obscured>
<lb></lb>
to the Kings head in General Street, that there the said Derien told this<lb></lb>
Informt. one time, that he could not find Mr. Fielding's Clark at Home, he told<lb></lb>
him another time, that the Clerk was believes, and he could not speak with him,<lb></lb>
but that at another time, the said Derien told this Informt. that his buisness<lb></lb>
was done, meaning as this Informt. Understood that he had obtained Leave<lb></lb>
to Continue his Billiard Table, And this Informt. says that he then went<lb></lb>
witt the said Derien to the Clave Ports, where he met Kenny, and Copy, and<lb></lb>
Says that when of the aforesaid Persons, told this Informt. that he meet pay five<lb></lb>
guineas,<gap reason="illegible"></gap>
he replyed, that he had already Paid their<gap reason="illegible"></gap>
two guineas, And<lb></lb>
this Informt. further says, that the aforesaid Derien, and as he beleives, by the<lb></lb>
Direction of the aforesaid Henry told this Informt. that that two guineas were<lb></lb>
for their over trouble, and further says that they all then assmed him he might<lb></lb>
contrive his Billiard Table with safety, and without fear of being disturbed, by<lb></lb>
Mr. Fielding And says the said Derien told this Informt. that he had done this, to serve him<lb></lb>
and not out of any Interect and that he shod. not have paid the said five Guineas if he had not<obscured></obscured>

beleived that they had obtained the aforesaid Permission for him to Play,<lb></lb>
for that it was a Large Sun for him to Pay,</p>
