<p n="143">And whereas in pursuance of the Powers<lb></lb>
given by the said Statute.The Court of<lb></lb>
Quarter Sessions held on Monday the 15th.<lb></lb>
Day of January, 1749, did order and direct<lb></lb>
among other Things, "For maintaining all<lb></lb>
"and every Vagabond for twenty four Hours,<lb></lb>
"and so after that Rate, for a longer or<lb></lb>
"shorter Time, and for the Passing, or Con-<lb></lb>
"veying of any such Person or Persons whose<lb></lb>
"Names are contained in one Pass, convey-<lb></lb>
"ed or carried along together at one Time,<lb></lb>
"or turn by Cart, or Horse Carrriage, the<lb></lb>
"Rate of Six-pence a Mile and no more, and<lb></lb>
"for Passing or conveying of such Person<lb></lb>

Persons on Foot, under and less than<lb></lb>
"Six pence, Etc.</p>
<p n="144">And whereas great Frauds and Abuses<lb></lb>
have been practised by the Constables and<lb></lb>
other Officers conveying Vagabonds under<lb></lb>
the said Order of Sessions, by acumulating<lb></lb>
large Sums of the Publick Money to their<lb></lb>
own USe, to the great Injury of this County,<lb></lb>
for the Prevention of which.</p>
<p n="145">The Justices of the Peace now assem-<lb></lb>
bled in their General Sessions, do pur-<lb></lb>
suant to the Power given them by the said<lb></lb>
Statute repeal and declare, void the said<lb></lb>
Order of Sessions of January 15th. 1749.<lb></lb>
And</p>
<p n="146">And the said Order is hereby declared to be<lb></lb>
null and void.</p>
<p n="147">And this Court doth in pursuance of the<lb></lb>
Powers given by the said Statute, order and<lb></lb>
direct, that for the future Vagabonds shall be<lb></lb>
passed or conveyed, according to the Tenor<lb></lb>
of the Contract entered into by the Court,<lb></lb>

acting in and for this County,<lb></lb>
and all Peace Officers and others, are hereby<lb></lb>
required to conform themselves thereto, and<lb></lb>
the several High Constables of this County,<lb></lb>
are hereby forbid to receive or pay any Or-<lb></lb>
ders of conveying to their respective <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50463_occ43">petty<lb></lb>
Constables</rs>

or any other Persons contrary to<lb></lb>

County is also hereby ordered and directed<lb></lb>
not to receive into his Account any Orders<lb></lb>
of conveying contrary to the said Order of<lb></lb>
this Court.</p>
<p n="148">And it is ordered by this Court that it be,<lb></lb>
and it is hereby recommended unto his Ma-<lb></lb>
jesty's <rs type="occupation" id="LMSMPS50463_occ45">Justices of the Peace</rs>

for this County<lb></lb>
respectively, that when any Person is brought<lb></lb>
before them, and upon Oath, or upon their<lb></lb>
own Confession charged with being a Rogue<lb></lb>
and Vagabond, that such Justice do take the<lb></lb>
Examination of such a Vagabond in writing<lb></lb>
upon Oath, and order such Vagabond to be<lb></lb>
