"that under the sanction of their recommendation, it may find<lb></lb>
"it's way into the several Parishes, Townships and Vills of their<lb></lb>

<p n="306">My Lord Duke.</p>
<p n="307">I am directed by the Chairman of the Sessions and<lb></lb>
by the Magistrates of this county assembled in their General<lb></lb>
Sessions to acknowledge the Receipts of Twenty Copies of a Tract<lb></lb>
entitled" The Duty of Constables." and to return their Thanks to<lb></lb>
the Society of which Your Grace is President for this additional<lb></lb>
instance of its attention to the preservation of good Order and<lb></lb>
the Security of the public peace.</p>
<p n="308">The Magistrates have too long found reason to<lb></lb>
complain that the Laws have lost their proper energy and<lb></lb>
effect, thro' the want of better information or more diligent<lb></lb>
execution in their subordinate Officers, they therefore thankfully<lb></lb>
accept a publication which appears calculated to obviate the<lb></lb>
mischievous consequences of both and will use their endeavours.</p>
