<p n="1596">Thus have the Committee endeavoured to meet the Wishes of this<lb></lb>
Court as expressed in the Resolutions of Thursday 21st. October 1784 And to the<lb></lb>
Consideration of this Court they Submit this Account of their Proceedings together<lb></lb>
with a Description of the intended Building and every Circumstances relating<lb></lb>
to it. In all which they hope it will appear that their Attention to the<lb></lb>
Business before them has been somewhat suitable to its Magnitude and<lb></lb>
Importance: And that their first Object has been to Establish such a House of<lb></lb>
Correction for the <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO55609_geo933">County of Middlesex</rs>

<interp inst="LMSMGO55609_geo933" type="type" value="undefined"></interp>
, as should not only in itself be<lb></lb>
productive of the most salutary Effects, but be worthy of Imitation in other<lb></lb>
parts of the Kingdom</p>
<p n="1597">Much it is acknowledged will yet remain with this Court to order<lb></lb>
and determine respecting the future internal Management of the Prison when<lb></lb>
it shall be compleated, And very much will depend on the appointment of<lb></lb>
proper persons to govern it who this Committee is of Opinion ought to be<lb></lb>
Men of Integrity and Sobriety, Men of Prudence and Firmness with Humanity<lb></lb>
Persons desirous of answering the Purposes already suggested in this Report;<lb></lb>
ever anxious to secure the Persons: to preserve the Health to inforce the<lb></lb>
Correction and (as far as occasional good Advice and a constant good<lb></lb>
Example can Effect it) to promote the Reformation of the Prisoners.</p>

<p n="1599">It was moved and Seconded that the said Report be received which<lb></lb>
was carried unanimously in the affirmative.</p>
<p n="1600">The Plans for the intended House of Correction for this County as prepared<lb></lb>
by the said Committee were laid before the Court and the same being inspected<lb></lb>
were explained by <rs type="persName" id="LMSMGO55609_n1600-1">Jacob Leroux</rs>

<p n="1601">Resolved That it is the Opinion of this Court that the Plan for <lb></lb>
a House of Correction now produced and laid before the Court is a proper<lb></lb>
and Convenient plan for a House of Correction for this County and that the same<lb></lb>
ought to be adopted and carried into Execution</p>
<p n="1602">A Particular or Description of the intended manner of<lb></lb>
Erecting and finishing the Building and forming the Yards Outletts and other<lb></lb>
accomadations being also laid before the Court by the Committee and Read<lb></lb>
and debated upon It was Resolved That the same together with the<lb></lb>
necessary Measures for carrying the whole into Execution be taken into<lb></lb>
Consideration on the County day of the next Session, and that in the mean time</p>
