being present after having explained the nature of his attendance<lb></lb>
informed the Court as follows Vizt. That one day soon after Christmas I<lb></lb>
was sent for to Cook at a Boy who was Ill after I had sent the Medicines<lb></lb>
down to the Gaol I believe it was about 8 Clock when I got there the state<lb></lb>
I found the Boy in was his Legs intirely dead and in a state of a<lb></lb>
Mortification he was speechless and really appeared to me to die for<lb></lb>
want of every necessary when I went into the Ward I tried to make<lb></lb>
him speak but found his Jaws quite set and when I attempted to put<lb></lb>
the Wine down his Throat he bit the Cup but I made him swallow<lb></lb>
some Wine with a great deal of difficulty the next Morning about Ten<lb></lb>
I found him dead The Morning after there was an Inquest and<lb></lb>
Fletcher the Turnkey went up the Yard and told one Harris the Man<lb></lb>
who waits on the Sick that he must say that the Boy came into the<lb></lb>
Ward in a fit and that he had every kind of necessary The next<lb></lb>
Morning I went up the Gaol after having some conversation with Harris<lb></lb>
on the Crime he had committed he did acknowledge before Witness that<lb></lb>
he was afraid of Fletcher but that the real Sentiments of his Heart was<lb></lb>
that the Boy perished to Death with Cold and Hunger Whereupon<lb></lb>
Mr Harwood was ordered to attend and being present gave the following<lb></lb>
Account.</p>
<p n="19">It is my Custom generally to enquire into the health of the<lb></lb>
Prisoners every day. It was about five or Six in the Evening when I<lb></lb>
enquired about the health of the Prisoner I was informed an Apprentice<lb></lb>
was Sick I ordered him to be taken immediately into the Sick Ward<lb></lb>
and every necessary given him the next Morning I was informed the<lb></lb>
Boy was dead.</p>

Premises said The Boy was committed as a disorderly Apprentice and<lb></lb>
was in very good health to all Appearance when he came did not see<lb></lb>
him every day. I do not remember when he was taken out of the Cells</p>
