Having received two Letters from the Right Honble Mr.<lb></lb>
Townshend One of his Majestys Principal Secretaries of State of<lb></lb>
which the inclosed are Copies acquainting me that his Majesty had<lb></lb>
signified his pleasure, That the Old Caps should take the Names of<lb></lb>
Counties: and had appointed the 39th. Regiment to the <rs type="placeName" id="LMSMGO55607_geo1860">County of Middlesex</rs>

so good as to communicate the Contents of these Letters to The Magistrates<lb></lb>
and other Gentlemen of the County and as this a point of great publick Concern<lb></lb>
and Importance permit me to recommend the Subject of these Letters to<lb></lb>
your Consideration and Attention; and If latter my self you will conccur<lb></lb>
with me in exerting Yourselves with the almost Zeal and Activity in<lb></lb>
lending every possible assistance for recruiting those Regiments, and<lb></lb>
carrying His Majestys Commands into Execution. I am with great regard</p>

<p n="2187">My Lord.</p>
<p n="2188">The very great deficiency of Men in the Regiments of<lb></lb>
Infantry being so very detrimental to the publick service, the King has<lb></lb>
thought proper to give the names of the different Counties to the Old<lb></lb>
Corps, in hopes that by the Zeal and Activity of the principal Nobility<lb></lb>
and Gentry in the several Counties, some considerable Instance may<lb></lb>
be given towards recruiting those Regiments. As this in a point of the<lb></lb>
utmost publick importance. His Majesty has no doubt of your<lb></lb>
Grace's using your utmost influence among your Friends for the<lb></lb>
Accomplishment of it.</p>
<p n="2189">The King has been pleased to appoint the 39th. Regiment<lb></lb>
